I agree that the bus driver was shitty in his behaviour towards you.On the other hand, though, I can’t stand it when people persist in wearing their IPod headphones through checkout lines, while renting videos, or in basically any situation where you’re interacting with another human being. It’s pretty goddamn rude.
I wear my headphones just about everywhere I go because I can’t stand “polite” (read: boring and pointless) conversation. It doesn’t mean I’m rude. I always say thank you and hold the door for people whenever I can. Don’t condemn me for skipping those conversations that inevitably end with the clerk saying “fixing to be a lot better when I get off man.”
I totally agree that the guy who drives the 14 is an ass. If you by chance have to run to catch the bus and get to it while it’s still sitting there he won’t open the door and he’ll drive off looking at you like “ha ha”. Now when it comes to headphones, I wear mine everywhere as well and I’m on the other end of it as well. I am a Sobeys cashier and I don’t care if people wear their headphones as long as they can hear you. It keeps me from having to make useless conversation with them.
Where in the fuck can you go for two dollars this day and age, if you had not had the earphones on the driver would not have had to yell at you in the first place, he deals with people’s bullshit all day long for two dollars, so dont go crying over a bus driver yelling at you
As a retail worker I refuse to make the first move when a customer comes to the cash with earphones on full blast or having a cellphone conversation. They are obviously too busy to be buying stuff anyway. I’d rather lose that type of customer as there are many more people with manners out there to take their place.
I don’t think the price to get on the bus has anything to do with how a bus driver should act. His pay isn’t based on “the gate” from his bus. Also, I don’t see why you would lose a customer for not bothering them while they are on the phone/listening to music. Why do so many retail workers think they have to act as though you’re friends? You’re getting paid for a service, ring me through, and let’s stop lying to each other.
