Remarks: Who would put a dirt pile in such an awkward place? From whence did it come? Is the ground, tired of being trod upon, fighting back and (literally) staging an uprising? Well…no. According to Brinson, the dirt was left on the Common by city workers, to be used whenever they need to “repair a hole or rut”—and in the meantime, we get a dirt pile. Uh…isn’t a big mound of dirt just as bad as a hole? I mean, sure, we’ve got hole-and-rut related peace of mind…but at what cost?
