Remarks: According to Bray, the planters haven’t been cleaned out because they’re about to be removed from the street entirely. “When the prime contractor first put these in, we found they were not satisfactory,” he says. Replacement planters of a higher quality are supposedly on the way; Bray says the garbage-gathering planters are scheduled for removal sometime soon, possibly even by the end of the week. “As soon as we get the new ones, they’ll be topsoiled, so it should no longer be a problem.”
