Remarks: Every now and then, we here at On Patrol get an uplifting (if brief) burst of good news; a ray of sunshine in an otherwise gloomy downpour of municipal malfunction tickets. After noticing the downed sign, On Patrol called the municipality’s Streets & Roads Services hotline to seek out the person(s) responsible. We couldn’t get a name, but we did report the fallen sign to the receptionist — not that we expected anything to come of it. That was on Thursday. By Monday, lo and behold, the offending sign had been removed! Sweet mercy, the system actually worked! We, like you, were shocked — and pleasantly satisfied.
