To the editor,

This past Saturday, a crowd of people met at Parade Square to protest against the Canadian participation in the invasion of Afghanistan. The majority of the crowd consisted of mature intelligent adults plus a dozen or so children. Initially I was nervous in the presence of such a “powder keg” in our fair city: A crowd like that can suddenly turn violent and destroy our way of life. Thankfully, I soon noticed our police force had the situation well under control. Outfitted in storm trooper uniforms, scowling fiercely and carrying a good array of clubs and chemical weapons, they made sure those children were not going to get out of hand and destroy our precious infrastructure. Looking ridiculous and squandering tax dollars is a small price to pay to guarantee the security of our town.
