
Remarks: Venturing down Bloomfield is like attempting to do mogul skiing without the skis. The sidewalks on this street are cemented with mini-mountains of ice. An HRM bylaw states that property owners in Halifax are responsible for “clearing snow and ice from all sidewalks abutting their property,” and sidewalks must be shovelled down to the pavement. Bloomfield, for the love of our ankles, your neighbours and unexpecting pedestrians: get off your abuts and shovel!
Who’s Responsible?: Residents on Bloomfield Street who don’t care to pick up their shovels…and of course, Mother Nature.
Status, August 2008: Resolved It seems residents of Bloomfield Street finally decided to pick up their shovels and rid their sidewalks of the death trap. Or, perhaps, Mother Nature stepped in on their behalf and removed the unwanted ice herself. That seems much more plausible. Updated by Amanda Wenek
