Remarks: The slope takes hold of the carts, and a fence at the bottom of the hill catches them. The crafty hill-and-fence combo has captured many a hapless cart, inspiring us to investigate. We spoke to managers at all three stores: Sears claims to check for stray carts on a weekly basis through an outside cart-collecting service; ditto Wal-Mart. Sobeys says their employees check twice a week. Either the stores need to step up their patrols, or the power of the hill-and-fence has grown beyond our control. God help us all.
