From the front page of the Herald‘s business section today: “Starbucks plans to open lots of coffee shops worldwide.” Yes gentle citizen, it turns out there’s this business with a wacky name that serves a type of heated brown beverage—some drinkers call it “coffee”—and this company has aspirations (doubtless delusional) of expanding beyond its home town of Seattle, USA. Who knew? Apparently not Herald readers.

It’s not surprising to see the daily reverting to form after last week’s excellent series on restaurant inspections. (Herald staff reporter Jeffrey Simpson did several pieces on the veil of secrecy which the province’s Agriculture Department has draped over restaurant cleanliness and safety reports.) Not surprising, just a little disappointing.
