What’s the #1 job of a HRM councillor?
Paul Russell: I used to think: Infrastructure. I now think: Helping our community and our society at the most grassroots level possible.
Tony White: To improve their community in general. You’re advocating on behalf of the people who, by voting for you, have trusted you to do just that.
Natasha Bouliane: To listen and pursue action on behalf of the residents with their concerns.
Shannon McLellan: To listen to the voice of the residents and be able to connect them with resources and resolutions
Mary Lou LeRoy: Listen, respond and get results for the people.
Christopher Davis: To be the ambassador of your community.
What do you do for fun?
Trysta Doary: Take a walk on First Lake Trail and then drop in for a bite at the Station.
Mic Hindlet: Hike, Garden, Ski, Golf.
Shannon McLellan: Go on adventures.
Christopher Davis: Spend time with my family and once a week my friends and I get together and play board games.
Mary Lou LeRoy: Play guitar.
What’s the last TV series you watched?
Mary Lou LeRoy: Homeland
Christopher Davis, David Schofield: Mindhunter
Shannon McLellan: This is Us
Natasha Bouliane: Suits
Tony White: Good Omens
Mic Hindlet: Formula 1: Drive to Survive
Paul Russell: House of Cards
Halifax Regional Municipality needs MORE:
Tony White: Transit options, walk-in clinics, parking and trails
Natasha Bouliane: Access to and creation of affordable programs
Mic Hindlet: Job opportunities for young people
Mary Lou LeRoy: Recreational opportunities where children can participate from low-income families
David Schofield: A high-speed commuter rail, and a 3rd crossing from Dartmouth to Halifax
Trysta Doary: Voter turnout
Christopher Davis: Creativity
Shannon McLellan: Accessibility
LESS:
Tony White: Large trucks in rush hour and downtown.
Shannon McLellan: Pollution
Natasha Bouliane: Over-development of new and unaffordable structures.
Mic Hindlet, Christopher Davis: Red tape
David Schofield, Trysta Doary: Talk and more action.
Paul Russell: Poutine
What’s the worst thing HRM has done in the last five years?
David Schofield: Derail the high-speed commuter rail issue.
Paul Russell: The Cornwallis statue. We have to learn from history, and from a more full view of history than I think we’ve had.
Tony White: Any investment or commitment to the stadium, based on putting it in Shannon Park. That land could be better developed for reasonable housing options.
Natasha Bouliane: Not enough focus, action and promotion on issues that can better help with transportation and environment hand in hand.
What Lower Sackville issue deserves more attention at city hall?
Mary Lou LeRoy: The homeless situation. Affordable housing.
Christopher Davis: Less red tape for home owners and small business owners.
Mic Hindlet: Better transit. More road infrastructure, affordable housing, trails and green spaces.
Trysta Doary: More transportation options, maintenance and improvement of our infrastructure, more effective policing and of course, our trails.
Tony White: #1 is transit, #2 is seniors.
Shannon McLellan: Equal access to all Halifax services.
Paul Russell: Traffic speed on both main and side streets, sidewalks (or a lack thereof), availability of transit, not enough crosswalks and snowplows. What needs more attention than those, however, is making sure that our youth have more things to do where they can help the community and take ownership and pride in their community.
David Schofield: An active transportation crossing from Sackville Manor to Sackville bus terminal and more seniors housing.
Natasha Bouliane: Affordable infrastructure and development.
Paul Russell: Time with my daughter, granddaughter, and other family and friends.

I dont believe you should have had the option to edit for clarity or length.
You asked the candidates for answers, you should have printed them exactly as answered.
Instead you chose to either eliminate answers or reduce the answers to suit your needs.
People want to know what the candidates are saying, not what you (the coast) choose to say on behalf of the candidates.
I believe this was unfair treatment of all candidates.
I cant speak for the others, but I for one are extremely disappointed in your coverage.
