As I’m sure some of you have noticed, there has been a sharp rise in the local yuppie quotient recently. To be fair, that’s a pat descriptor. I’m not trying to paint all young urban professionals with the same brush, I’m just talking about a certain sub-variety.
What bothers me is not the tacky clothes or the conspicuous comsumption (who really needs $200 rubber boots, except maybe pig farmers?), its the seemingly prevelant attitude of superiority, nay hauter, displayed by some of this ridiculous crop of folks.
Case in point, I’m buying groceries today when Mr. and Mrs twenty something Type A come striding, runway style (sunglasses on, jiggas!) down the aisle two abreast with two carts. No attempt was made by them to alter trajectory or to even politely, ever so slightly, pause to consider the situation. Polite types will stop and smile, perhaps chuckle and say, “excuse me” while accomodating one another’s momentary needs. Needless to say, evasive action was neccessary, meaning I had to BACK OUT of the aisle while these two automatons proceeded. Even my not so subtle ‘what the fuck?’ facial expression and hand gestures were met with a cool sunglassioed stare.
Just remember (rude)Yuppies, nature abhors a vacuum, so don’t be surprised when you here that little popping sound in your ears, its just your feeble personalities finally dying.

Hmmmm … not much to say here other than: I AGREE. Also …”sunglass on, jigga!” … pure magic. You made my day.
Death to yuppy fucks!!!
worry not… we’ll all be on the same social strata soon….give it another few months….Depression II is coming….then the yuppies will have to get their hands dirty doing manual labor
I’d like to point out that the rude behaviour you experienced certainly isn’t exclusive to yuppies. Cranky old people can be just as rude. Young people who aren’t yuppies are equally as capable of such bad behaviour.
Question is: Why did you back out? You should have stood your ground and forced one of them to alter course. The only reason people like that do the things they do is because people like you keep submitting to the rude behaviour. Stand your ground, make noise about it, and they’ll think twice about doing whatever they did again. There are few things in life that I enjoy more than putting assholes who care nothing about anything but themselves in their place, be it in the grocery isle or on the road.
