I’m sure everyone will shit on me for being a spelling Natzi, but the amount of people saying they have a “COACH” for sale, when they really mean “COUCH” is driving me absolutely CRAZY! How hard is it to spell the word couch? I’ve seen this mistake on signs in my building, and all over online classifieds. Before you do up an ad, make sure you can spell. I don’t care how bitchy I sound right now… —PF

  1. i won’t o.p., but riddle me this. when is a couch not a couch? when it is a sofa, divan, chesterfield, lounger, settee, or a loveseat. so many names, same thing. if you can sit on it, i call it a seat. you must be reading kijiji again.

  2. Chesterfield – holy fuck, rising images of June Cleaver’s plastic pearls and doctor endorsed cigarettes are dancing before my eyes. I just call it the ‘Long Rectangle with Annoying Floppy Pillows’ now.

  3. Then there is always good old davenport. Well, that is how it is going ‘sofa’ today. Sweet deity and it is only Monday.

  4. A NATZI is the updated Tea Party version of NAZI, they slipped the extra T in as a reminder that the US economy is going Tits up.

  5. Love this bitch. And you should haved gone with it miss fire… Never admit the mistake if you can spin it and make it work 🙂
What the heck is a davenport?

  6. I haven’t seen coach instead of couch, but what drives me is when idiots write tonite instead of tonight!

  7. Anyone that posts an ad online ever seems like an absolute retard. Here’s an example:

    “have a Nice 1 bdrooem 4 sublet… cums wit Water and heet… plz Contact me @ 1231985 n Ask 4 dave.”

    YEAH OKAY.

  8. It’s someone from Cape Breton – Waddya doin by-ieeee sellin yar coach?

I’m from newfoundland and even I find the cape breton accent annoying. Like someone took a newfie and beat us with a stupid stick.

  9. Once went to pick up a couch from kijiji and instead there was this awkward angry guy with a whistle and a for sale sign on his shirt that screamed at me and told me to drop and give him twenty. We thought it was an error and the ad people meant couch but we were wrong. We felt bad, after all who would buy him if we didn’t, so we took him home and named him Bob. Doesn’t quite match our other furniture though.
    🙂 Jk.

  10. Hi R.C. davenport |ˈdavənˌpôrt|
    noun
1 a large upholstered sofa, typically able to be converted into a bed. [ORIGIN: perhaps from a manufacturer’s name.]

Also, a street in Toronto – lol, and a few other things too. The term used to be used more back in the 60s and earlier.

  11. mmm davenport, i remember the yummy greek restos. those freaking potatoes llllaaarrrgghh

  12. yes..also called a day bed…and painey methinks your thinking the danforth (greek town) 🙂

  13. …yea i live at dan. and broadview for 3 yrs..and every once in a while all the resto’s would have price wars…like chk’n souvlaki on a pita and a side for like 3 BUCKS! (that was a …ahem…while ago) but yea i’ve tried to replicate greek spuds my whole life..close but no ..dolma.. 🙂

  14. To the credit of the people writing the adds maybe they are actually selling a coach and not a couch!
