I noticed recently that my chest seems to have inflated so I decided to buy some new bras. I went into the middle price, low quality bra store at the mall and tried on quite a few DD bras. As I was exiting the fitting room a clerk was measuring a visibly very less busty girl than I and you stated she was a E but that she would fit in a D (Two cup sizes lower whattt?). After not fitting into a single DD bra I tried on I decided, hey can you fit me too. When you told me I was a DD and that you didn’t understand why I was pouring out of the bras shouldn’t that of been a hint? I’m already restricted by bras that are too small, hence why I was trying to buy bigger ones and you were pulling that stupid measuring tape so tight I couldn’t breathe. Did you not catch onto the fact that I noticed you were telling me I was smaller so I’d try to buy a bra, knowing that there was not one at that store to fit me? Seriously, I’m sick of seeing girls with half their boobs out, I refuse to be one of them and just because you want to make a sale doesn’t change that. —Frustrated Busty Girl

My girlfriend & I have had this conversation !
She refuses to go into a quality Bra shop & get fitted, I’ve even told her I would be happy to pay for it.
But nope she would rather cause herself pain….” there’s no darn way I’m ever paying 80 + dollars for a bra”- she’s said to me each time the subjects come up.
I don’t/can’t understand the logic, it must be something that men have missing from their genetic code.
Bra fittings are so fucked up. It really depends on who’s doing the fitting to be honest.
And ALL brands fit differently. When I’ve ever worn wonderbra, I’m a D, when I’ve worn lasenza for example, I’m a C (d’s are WAY too big in the cups). Further, I bought two bras from the same store that i buy my bras exclusively at now (expensive, but they last a LONG time) — but both are different brands. One brand fit two band sizes smaller and the cups are a tad bit big at the top. the other is two sizes larger in the band and the cups fit perfectly.
Not a huge deal because I tend to buy bras that are fuller support so they look great regardless. I think that’s the problem A LOT of girls have. You can MAYBE get away with light/medium support up to a C… and only a C is you’re a smaller girl to begin with. Remember, a 32E will be smaller in the cups than a 38B (or around the same cup size).
I’m a large C and I’ve seen Cs at the store you’re describing that don’t fit over half a boob — meanwhile, their Ds and DDs are the size of the cups I wear now. So it’s SO subjective.
You can buy all the push up bras you want, but a good full support one when yo’ure a C or above will actually work the same bcause it lifts you properly. I’ve tried on a few push up bras at this store and they make my boobs look the exact same as the bras i wear now — because they lift me properly. My boobs are heavy and the extra support not only make my rack look great, but help my upper chest from the weight.
And for cripes sakes, ladies, care for your bras properly! This means:
1. do not wear the same bra two days in a row: bras need at least one day in between wearings to breathe and go back in to shape
2. do NOT put your bras in the washing machine: hand wash in cold water only. Use zero or woolite
3. do NOT under ANY circumstances put your bra in the dryer. Ever.
4. lay bras flat to dry — don’t hang them over the shower curtain rod
5. actually get around to washing your bras. don’t wear them continuously for two weeks because that’s just gross.
PS: my measurements put me in a RIDICULOUS sized bra… I tried one on and it was ridiculously too big in the band and I had so much boob spillage that it looked like I had four equal sized tits.

i’ve been fitted and have had plenty of expensive bras. none were comfortable or fit nice. i’m an E i buy all my bras from walmart. they have ribbing on the side to keep shape and are so unbelievably comfortable. best bras ever
that’s why bras have 2 sizes-back size and cup size.
You can measure yourself-that’s what I do-then I buy online…stores seem to have my generous cup size on the bottom rungs and usually only in black, white or beige.
and More-you can’t understand why someone would not want to pay $80 for a bra? Times seven for every day or times five if you let the girls run free on the weekend–still a chunk o’ cash. (part of the gender tax, IMO, but don’t get me started!)

I thought the cups just get bigger by the letters. I can see the logic, I guess…32″ rib cage vs 38″ =smaller build all over?
e wouldnt be a smaller cup than a b. i’m a 34 E and there is absolutely no way ever i would fit into any B or anything smaller than a DD36. only difference in those 2 sizes is the band. so if i gain a bit of weight i go to the DD36

Painey, my sports bras are meant to compress, so I can’t remove them easily, either, especially when they’re all sweaty from a workout. My sports bras are also tops, though, so no shirt is involved.

Kontee — cups are determined by the number of inches from the bandsize. One inch = a; two = b; etc…
So if you’re a 32 and you’re an E your boobs are going to measure smaller around than a 38 with a B cup.
That’s why one of my cousins with smaller boobs is an E and I’m a C.
And Alex – of course you wouldn’t fit into anything smaller because your band size doesn’t warrant it. If you were a 32 or smaller, you’d likely be an H cup.
I’ve tried this, and the cup size of a 36D is the same as a 38C. It’s just the band that doesn’t fit, and I don’t know about anyone else around here, but a tight ass bra band is more uncomfortable than cups that don’t fit.
Or if the boning on the side of the bra digs in in weird places — sometimes if your bra isn’t perfectly straight that can happen and OUCH.
