It’s 12:30 pm at Spring Garden and Brunswick and from my vantage point, I’m watching 12 people fill a pot hole. 13 if you count the cop on the motorcycle looking on. TWELVE. Twelve people and FIVE vehicles. Six if you count the cop’s bike. And there are trees in the way so there could be more. —One Woman Who Can Screw In a Lightbulb by Herself

  1. Tell me about it OP. I was on my way to work this morn and saw 8 guys standing around and 2 actaully doing something …

I don’t do construction/road work so I don’t know if there are certain times which they need more hands but good grief it seemed like too many people to me as well …

Ahhh what can one do *shrug*

  2. This has been going on for years – my best buddy’s ex was a city field supervisor who admitted that some of his staff liked to smoke dope while working – so, it’s no surprise that this should happen.

  3. I heard a rumour that in the 70s the city field guys used to plant marijuana in the amongst the flower plantings at the rotary! Ha ha! Ahh – those were the days!

  4. The people you see just standing around doing nothing are employees in a union. It wouldn’t matter if they had absolutely nothing to do, they would still be employees anyway, at least someone took the initiative to send them out of the shop to do anything to keep them busy. Not that I am a big proponent of this, I will say I wish I had a union backing my job security. If we added up all the government employees that are unneeded we could probably cut the size of the public sector in half, but we all know that that is never going to happen.

  5. I’d love to see some of the overpaid, bonus-happy government management people turfed out but it’s not likely to happen.

  6. OP, quit complaining. Construction crews should be working 24/7 to fill the pot holes in the city.

  7. Sorry, PG. 🙁 I wanted to post another picture, but I couldn’t find it.

  8. Instead of bitching and going on about one person working and the rest standing around, why not make a phone call. I’m sure any of you who have an Iphone or BB glued to your head can do it. Ask why so many people for a job. You might learn something about construction and how it works.

  9. at least yo are getting it filled. i could show you a few moon crators that have not been touched yet, here in hrm.

sorry but I’m one of those government management people and haven’t gotten a raise in two years let alone a bonus! That’s NSP that gets the bonus!
