Right there, in plain view, with atleast five other customers watching, we saw you – picking bagels out of the “self serve bulk bakery” section of a certain grocery store. Picking each one up with your dirty, publicly sullied hands, checking it out and yes – deciding which ones to throw in your bag and which ones to throw back in the bin for the rest of us tong using, considerate consumers to unknowingly pick up for ourselves.

You looked dirty as hell, you smelled like a pack of Rothmans dunked in a bottle of cheap gin and then had the gall to look at me like I was fucking stupid when I told you not to throw them back in the bin after you pawed at them.

You, my lady, are a dirty panty stain on society – both the front and the back type of stain – and you and your kind should be forced to eat dirt – since you are so fond of sharing it with everyone else. —Bagel Biters Beware: Dirty Divas are Everywhere

  1. I hate using the tongs. The bagel falls on the floor, then I have to dust it off before I can put it back in the bin.

  2. dirty, drunk smoker? but i bet she gives a great blow job, just like seb. and i hear that on the street.

  3. Gross. I used the self-serve bagel thing once and I don’t think I will again. I hope you at least told the bakery workers so they could get rid of them.. but then again, they’d probably just put them back in anyway.. sick.

  4. You know OP somehow i was really surprised when you referred to her as “my lady”.. for some reason i was picturing a guy.

    Ew. Either way. Ew.

  5. And you think this is a rare and unusual event? Think – daily. This also happens a lot at most ‘open bin’ type places. I’ve often seen people rooting around in bins to grab a ‘sample’ or check items with their hands instead of using tongs or a scoop. Reason enough avoid them. Then again we have no idea what goes on in production and packaging areas either, but we have to eat. Bon appétit.

  6. too right chef marty and the bigger the bin the grosser the contents. wrapped candy is usually safe

  7. Amazing that the people who prepare your food or package your edible products are the same people you would not permit in your own kitchen!

  8. Tuesday is one of my favourite days, La Have bakery delivers their bagels to the SS in Bayers Gulag, they’re always pre-bagged and they go quickly. I wouldn’t eat one of those roottabagels that are in the all you can maul baskets, the currants are really boogers.

  9. I saw a segment on Dr Oz a few months ago where he was talking about the health dangers of the grocery store and apparently the most found item in the bulk bread/bagel/bun bins are fake nails.

    FYI.

  10. That’s just fucking nasty. Reason number 18469946267 why I won’t ever grace the “bulk barn” with my presence. You should have grabbed her bag of bagels, put it to your mouth and coughed, then handed it back to her and walked away. What a fucking pig!!!!

  11. Mr. Harper, I don’t think the poster is talking about the BB – I like and use the BB as there are people even more senile than me in there.

  12. fake nails, good grief. i have yet to find a bagel in this burg that is good. they haven’t been boiled, i can tell. it’s round bread with a hole in the middle, the ingredients are good, but it’s the method that counts

  13. PG, oddly enough, (or maybe not), I found the best bagels in town are not even from here. Fete’s Pruitique has actual Montreal style bagels right from Montreal. (I can’t remember the brand name, sorry) The only problem is they go fast and are kind of pricey but soooo worth it. Mighty fine. L’Chaim!

  14. thank you kind sir, i know those and they aren’t terrible but they’re not great. when the weather gets colder i will be making bagels again. i think i have discovered the secret

  15. Avasto – I think they’re Yenta’s bagels, I believe they took over the Old French Pastry shop on Quinfool, which is now a skate shop – but the bagels are still made in the vicinity.

  16. Nice one GG. I hadn’t heard of that one before. Thanks. I’ll have to check it out.

PG, you MAKE your own bagels? How cool is that. I’ll take a toasted sesame seed with some mustard and Montreal smoked meat, please. Yummmmmm.
Oh, and a pickle. Can’t forget the pickle lol

  17. Oh Yeah. Can’t get Strubs at the StupidStore I patronize anymore. I’ll have to check the cockney greengrocer next time I’m in.
And that Peroni is a tasty drop, Baz. Thanks for mentioning it back in the summer.

  18. I think the large volume place that requires a membership has Strubs pickles, but I’m not entirely sure…

  19. Thanks Agent 195 >: )
Strange thing is, up until a year ago, the department ztore that’z zoon to be a Target uzed to carry them, in the deli/dairy cooler.

  20. Just a tad of an overreaction there bagel biter. Everybody is so obsessed with germs and dirt, they are actually quite helpful in building your immune system. Can’t have things too clean, not good for you.
If you want to worry about something, how about the chemicals in food and in the air. All those industrial-based free radicals turning your cells pre-cancerous. Scary stuff.

  21. Ivan there’s a rival to toodly doo, but it’s a 14 hour drive in a Panzer as they’re located in Tantallon – Delish is the name of the place, Brit run and loaded with delicacies, pork pies, steak and kidney, steak and ale, steak and stilton, scotch eggs, cornish pasties etc. they also carry sweets (candies) and biscuits – I don’t get commission for telling about this place, but if you’re ever in the area it’s definitely worth a drop in.

  22. hello baz, i told my folks about that place and they went on a road trip. ma said it was great and nice and clean! she’s big on that when it comes to food service. i am now in possession of two scotch eggs, i’ll let you know how they are

  23. Nice Hugo. A silver fox. Beautiful animal indeed.
