I’ve been to a bar or two in my life – one of the wonderful things about Halifax is the variety to choose from. Returning to Halifax I like to try out new establishments. On a recent trip I tried a different downtown bar and was greeted with a snarky attitiude and a snarl. Ok you sell beer and when I ask for a beer list you give me attitude? I ask what you sell, I get a shoulder shrug? To round out the event – did you seriously give me a dirty look when I leave a tip comparable to my service? Maybe answer a question and provide some service and you will get some $$ – with service like this you’re lucky minimum wage is increasing soon. —Ask and Ye Get Nothing

Just ask for what you want. If you are at a wine boutique, I can see wanting a wine list. But at a bar. Order what you want and get on with it. If you don’t know what you want, then go home. With your penny tips in your pocket.
Okay Homer, stop crying over spilled beer!
Shitty service = no tip at all! No exceptions
There are certian bars that only sell certin kinds of beer ( lower deck ) for example. A simple question requires a simple answer not a wack of attitude because the said bartender feels they are above listing what beer they have.
This bartender apparently didn’t deserve a penny!
All the bartender had to say was take your pick we have em all!
OB, your mistake was you left a tip. Never tip those dumb fucks. Like you said, there are plenty of places downtown. Those no talent ass clowns behind the bar don’t remember one person even an hour later. Go elsewhere.
certain jobs are inherently hardwork, but I refuse to tip a hard worker. Because some hard workers are the ‘walking dead’ ie they just aren’t engaged in their workplace.
If you want me to tip you, show me a sign that you are engaged in your work and that your work really matters to you. If you do that, I think you’ll find more tips flowing into your pocket than your brain dead coworkers.
