I am tired of being harassed by these kids who think they are “hard as fuck” or “ghetto”. It’s bad enough when these kids are in their teens, but now you see fucking eight year olds going around, trying to make comments to me, and I am twice their age. No respect at all. When I was their age, I wasn’t trying to steal shit, harass older people or wear pants to my knees. You’re not hard as fuck. You’re not gangster. You live in Halifax, for fuck’ s sakes.

  1. Don’t worry…their days are numbered. Those yo-yo hommie wannabees wouldn’t stand a day in a ghetto.

  2. I want to start a youth program here in HRM for these kids. Kinda like how they have programs in the major cities for the “inner-city youth”. Except here, we don’t send them to some camp out in the country to enjoy the great outdoors. Oh, no. We send them to live in Compton or the Bronx for a week and then we see just how tough they are when they come back. If they come back that is. Either way, it’s a win/win situation!

  3. I remember sitting at a bus terminal watching a group of these kids cross 4 lanes of traffic forcing cars to horn and brake…. they walk by with everyone staring (since they’re fucking douche’s) and the kid says… “What? I got a fucking pistol” and puts his hands in his pocket and keeps right on walkin’ with his fuckin’ thug wanna be friends…

that was the point when I was really disappointed with how far we’ve regressed.

  4. A group of baby-gangsta’s use to hang out on church steps with their prosta-tots; I never quite understood why of all places they picked a church to loiter at. Maybe I’m gettin old…

  5. Never Wrong— I have never agreed with you more. The only problem is that if they did come back they really would be “hard-as-fuck’.

  6. Mindsnap, perhaps because they know it would look bad if a priest told them to get the fuck away from the church…
rather than trying to ‘save’ them from themselves…

  7. Cause if there’s one thing that she don’t need, it’s another hungry mouth to feed in the Ghetto! (In the Ghettooooo!)

Mamma’s on Smack and Baby’s Smokin’ Crack in the Ghetto! (In the Ghettoooooo!)

  8. It used to take a community to raise a kid. That is gone in Halifax now anyways.

I used to live in the Ocean Towers and that is a shit area to raise a kid. I moved out to Caldwell Road later on and that area has a much better sense of community. Big difference between the two areas.

I don’t have kids but if I did I would raise them in the suburbs

  9. Too bad the cars stopped zZz…one less little thug-wannabe on the streets of HRM wouldn’t exactly be a tragedy.

  10. I was once driving to work in a snow storm. The roads were pretty bad and it was dark. I was turning around a blind corner and there were these 3 wannabe’s walking down THE MIDDLE OF THE ROAD. I was going 20 if that, and honked my horn, they wouldn’t move. Just kept walking straight down the middle of the road, their nasty whore asses shaking. I’ve had this happen to me in high school, where you’re walking down the hallway and stove’s walk down the middle with their noses stuck up, and don’t even make an effort to move out of the way and knock into you intentionally. But I mean, a fucking car vs. your dumb ass in a SNOW STORM. It’s ridiculous. I wish I was going faster. These people are dragging down the whole fucking world.

  11. depends on what part of halisucks you live in,i guess.you want a ghetto, then everyone knows where to go,you want nice, then you go there.a ghetto is what you make a place, not what the ghetto makes you.

  12. “They come by it honestly here in Bully Central. They’re just acting like their parents.”

Your little bastard should be even worse than the average Haligoon in that case.

  13. I dunno ytz— in suburbs they grow up to be snotty little good-for-nothings that get everything handed to them. But it’s certainly a better chance than growing up in the north end like you said.

kay— said like a true bully.

  14. it’s the same thing when i grew up in a small On. town with “punks” i was forever making fun of disenchanted anarchists fighting against the system which they wouldn’t know if it smashed they’re spiky heads(i love real punks though)

  15. zZz: one great stretch for pretend gangstas trying to intimidate traffic is, of course, Victoria Road between Albro Lake Road and Highfield Drive. I call it great, because in my experience as a driver those little fuckers become Ben Johnsons when they see a car bearing down on them with no apparent intention of braking. There’s no downside: it’s not like the police can lay any charges against you for accidentally hitting a jaywalker…not that it ever goes that far – the junior scumbags aren’t stupid nor suicidal.

  16. I’m just waiting for one of the urchins to make the great intuitive fashion statement leap of shuffling through life with his pants around his ankles.

There’s a niche market, grills for baby’s first set of teeth. Or maybe knee belts.

  17. I like realist in dartmouths think and action . I always do the same . And in the same area . Pretty pussy assed to me – the bitch all together . Just walk on and laugh to yourself at the foolishness.

And then laugh some more for the fact that when they are around 18 , they will all up beat up , hiding in another city for when the real boys catch up to him . Or chilling like a loser villian in burnside. Yea , thats the life !! Heading for 3 hots and a cot , all on corrections NS dime .

Seriously – laugh people . You all know one stomp would finish it all right there . But someone else will , don’t waste you time .

  18. Knee belts

Any device that impedes jeans from falling below the knee level, assuming a jacket of adequate length is worn.

    All rights reserved.

  19. Knee Belt

    Something what Shrike says but

alslo for jamming your foot onto when giving a wanna be a two handed shove off his feet.

  20. WeedDog: Of course they’ll all be in Burnside, it’s hard to run from the cops with your pants down… And you can’t forget about the chicks in these groups… They all end up knocked up and sucking the teat of the welfare system

  21. M-S – Yes Sir on that one !! I actually seen that downtown dartmouth . Dumb ass trying to run from the cops , tripping all over his pants , trying to hold em up while losing his shoe . Hilarious . AS for the knocked up welfare bitches? Thats where our good tax dollars go !!

Sill a fan of stomping on they’re belts and laying a two hander into them . Body flys and the bottom half stays right there !! It;s a great move .

  22. Why just send them to the Bronx or Compton? How about spend a bit more money on airfare and send them to real ghettos in Kingston, Jamaica, Rio de Janeiro, or Johannesburg. What about Port-au-Prince?

I always hate it on Gottingen Street with all the hood-rats jaywalking across the street right in front of any car, daring you to hit them.

  23. At least Gottingen St got the nick name “Gotta-Get-a-gun” St, or Pinecrest is “CrimeCrest”, I think Primrose had a nick name, but I can’t remember it…
But Eastern Passage, or Gaston Rd? There’s no cred, no cool nick names, nothing. Just stupid fucking kids

  24. Ha, The Pubs! LOL I’ve been told about them.

Maybe they can be the Beaups? You know, a mix of Bayers and Pubs?

  25. HAHA the EP – Repping yo – down with woodside yo !! HAHA . Yep – pretty hilarious !! Crimefield – crimecrest haha !!Kennedy and church hill . Jellybean sqaure . haha . They won’t even deliver pizza no more there !! North/south woodside kiddies for practice till you get to the EP . Oh oh my dartmouth is showing .Shit show on portland downtown is just fucking halarious ! Nothing like sitting on whiskeys patio in summer and watching the crackers and wanna bes!!

  26. Represent the 902 bitches!

I thought the Pubs were already a nickname, but I could be wrong. I remember waaaaay back, when I lived in Timberlea (which, by the way is white-bread, cracker central) the local “gang” had a three letter name. I forget what it is, but holy shit was it funny to see a bunch a good for nothing, white, upper-middle class kids spraying graffiti because they’re “thugs”. What was even more hilarious was the time I saw 876+the gang name scrawled in black spray paint on the side of a rock.

  27. “My pants love you,
    my pants need you,
my pants want you in the middle of the night
c’mon everybody now want my pants
c’mon everybody now love my pants
c’mon everybody now touch my pants
c’mon everybody now lick my pants
    My pants, they’re a miracle
    You know their strength
    You know that I’m spherical
when I move they do a dance,
    everybody loves my funky pants
    London, England, Paris, France,
c’mon down for a little romance
    Everybody take a chance
C’mon on down and touch my pants”
    -Corky and the Juice Pigs

I used to frequent crimecrest fairly regularly. No problems so long as you don’t cause any.
People who LIVE there however… live in a completely different world.
people be crazy up in that bitch.

  28. Haha yes, Dr. Fever I grew up in Timberlea or should I say “Timbo” as the kids say… it’s sad to see that in the suburbs that these kids think they’re so tough by tagging ‘876’ all over the place

  29. Yep, Timbo. It’s worse when you take into account they mingle those douchebags with other upper-middle-class “thugs” from Tantallon, in John A. What’s even funnier is that these kids make J-Roc seem tough.

876 is a tough area code, bitches!

  30. The Pubs is a “hood” area in West End Halifax located between Halifax Shopping Centre and Bayers Road Shopping Centre off Bayers Road, centred on Romans Ave and Federal Ave. Most of the “Pub Rats” went to QEH, so I therefore saw plenty of “Tha Pubz,” “PUB$,” and “Pub Town WHAT” graffiti scrawled in crayon throughout the school.

Timberlea is more lower-middle to middle class if you ask me, and while Tantallon has some upper-middle class areas, it, too, is a predominantly middle-class area. Just saying… not that they’re tru gangstas or anything!

You really do get these little wannabe gangsta shitheads everywhere, though, throughout North America and in the UK and Australia too. “Hooning” is the biggest problem in Australia, with all the Wogs and Wog-wannabes doing burnouts, fishtails, and drag-racing along busy streets on a Friday night with their fully sick Commodores, Falcons, and Fairlanes.

  31. The funniest gang I ever heard of was the “Cooby Loop” (supposed to be Colby but all the cool kids call it “koo-bee”. This is like one of the richest neighborhoods in Dartmouth haha! My brother was once riding his bike to a friend’s house in Colby, and some other ‘gang’ asked him “hey you koobee loop?”. There would be “colby loop” written in text books and shelves in Auburn high school as well haha. But those could just be people making fun of it. Let’s see if I can remember all the cole harbour-wesphal gangs: CHC (Cole Harbour Connection), CBC (Cherry Brook Connection), EPC (Eastern Passage con.)…that’s all I can think of right now. Oh there’s a Lawrencetown one too…I see their insignia all over EP signs and vice-versa haha.

  32. NEG
    chea chea

Dr. Fever, I’m pretty sure the Pubs is a nickname.. possibly for “public housing”? I’m sure it is, but I’m not sure if that’s what it stands for haha.

  33. Colby’s supposed to be ghetto? It’s a suburban area of white kids and their wealthy parents.

I’d love to take some wannabe-thugs on a tour of Indian Brook personally.

  34. Ha ha ha “876” isn’t even an area code. Right some hard they are.
I kind of get embarrassed for local hip-hop/rap artists when they sing about hard life is around here. Like in Classified’s “Up all night” or Jay Bizzy’s “U R Shelburne when”. There’s a big disconnect for me between the image of Hip-hop and the reality of life in the Maritimes. For the record, I do like a lot of Classified’s work, and I respect that it must be pretty tough to sing about your (rather privileged) life in a musical genre that has built up this image of gangs, drugs, violence and pimpin’. Class’ is much better, and more believable, at the “Feeling fine” and “O Canada” type of songs, IMHO.

  35. I believe they have a trailer park in Lakeside. I went to high school with the 876 crowd and they definitely were proud of their roots, but I wouldn’t quite pin them as ghetto wannabes. Then again, this isn’t 1998 so who knows.

I agree that the “ghetto” is a made up place in Halifax that many kids aspire to. Even Highfield, bad as it is, is far from a ghetto in the grand scheme of things. But it’s what’s in your head that matters.
