To a certain premier and education minister: you suck. I hope this whole thing backfires and costs you your political careers. 🙂 #Students4Teachers —Current Student, Future Voter

  1. And when you’re older, you’ll realize the situation is far more complicated than you now think. Glad to hear you’ll vote!

  2. The approach the government has taken is disappointment, not so much on their adverse position to that of the teachers but more about the dishonest and manipulative methods and questionable tactics.
I just hope that of this same government is in power when NSNU and NSGEU are negotiating their deals in health care that Minister Glavine doesn’t kick all the patients out for a day.

  3. It won’t backfire dear. Taxpayers are sick and tired of giving unions everything they ask for, and this union is asking for way too much. It was the union that walked away from the negotiating table, not the government. It was the superintendents that advised the government to close the schools to students because the union wouldn’t agree to change when principals would be allowed on school sites until Monday morning. It is the union who is asking for an 8% raise, and a nice $35,000 when each of them retire. The union and the government are using you and your parents as pawns in this game. If you want someone to blame, blame the teachers who voted against their own union, twice, and are demanding a better package than the Nurses. Maybe if you volunteered in the VG you might have a different perspective.

  4. …After all, they did vote themselves a life long golden pension after only having to serve to years in office. These very people and the ones like them are the scum of Nova Scotia!
They are the problem…..POLITICIANS…..and i think every last one of us should revolt in a massive way starting at the CEO of NSPI’s door steps. What do ya say folks?
    Time to REVOLT!

  5. We all should be “Home Schooling” our children to hate our corrupted politicians and to revolt ALL GREED!

  6. There probably need to be some changes in the education system. I can buy that. But we still need to spend within our means. I think we need to better educate the public as to how government finance works. There isn’t an endless pit of money to be spent. Maybe we should be sending someone to the junior highs and high schools to explain to students how revenues and expenditures need to balance – otherwise we go deeper in debt. Maybe it would get them more engaged in the political process when they see that they will have to pay interest on that debt in the future.

  7. How often do they cancel school when it barely/doesn’t snow? All the freakin time. Kids in this province lose at least a week a year compared to their Ontario peers plus we score low nationally. Those are the things that should be concerning.

  8. Seriously little boy or little girl. You have no clue nor do you care. All you care about is that you are missing out on drama class or basketball. You and yoru parents all support the teachers, not because you agree with the ABSURD benefits package they get, but because you are being inconvenienced and we cannot have that. We will hear the same thing when Halifax Transit goes on strike again because 75 grand a year is not enough. People like you will say “Give them what they want they deserve it”. One day you will be a taxpayer in this province and you will realize how short sighted your stance was.
