If one more person tells me to … and I quote “Stop being so lazy and buy a car.” Because I ride a bike everywhere. I am going to loose it.
Lazy: averse or disinclined to work, activity, or exertion; indolent.
See how I bike everywhere? That means I am ACTIVE and EXERT energy to move my bike. Car are MOTORIZED and if you have curse control you don’t even have to use your FOOT!
Who’s lazy again? While ranting about this I forgot… — I don’t think it means what you think It means

haha, dumb arses be everywhere. too funny
you mean more than one person was stupid enough to spew that nonsense??? I go back to that average IQ comment and bang my head on the wall.
i should have kept a dear diary of all the things that have been shouted at me, most i can’t hear because i’m going too fast. i am not the op
Caring what other people think is so yesterday. Eff ’em all. Keep on cyclin’.
That is ridiculous. You clearly aren’t lazy; you’re cheap.
J/k >; )
I’ll add my voice to everybody else’s. Sod the critics and the profferers of unsolicited advice and follow your path.
Ride hard.
I would hardly call a cyclist who chooses not to have a car “lazy”. You’re implying that more than one person uses this logic. Which means your associates are very dumb. You associate with dumb people op. There is some psychological basis in why certain individuals like to surround themselves with people who aren’t as smart as they are.. but in any event, you need new friends. Because these ones are going to give you a brain hemorrhage.
A car is worth it op. When one of my cats had emergency liver problems, a car saved her life. For example.
But it is not necessary in halifax to own one. Just easier. And not everyone wants to get one. I don’t necessarily think you’re cheap. Once you get one, it’s very hard to go back. And i think that this implies long term investment. Maybe its not even a question of money for you (but i’d guess it is, more than you want to admit. It was for me too. The “i choose not to” BS was just a way for me to keep my pride tooling around on the loser cruiser all day)
Honestly? I only got one because i moved out of town for a summer in 2012, somewhere without adequate public transportation – very rural. When i came home to the city, I just kept it. I’m glad i did but i still take my unicycle everywhere.
Cycling and driving are both lazy ways to get around when compared to power-sprinting and cross-country skiing. Look at you OP, sitting there on your cushioned seat with your comfortably padded handles and free air-conditioning. LAZY.
I have no problems with cyclists. They’re certainly not lazy. Just stay off the sidewalks, please.
agreed, unless you’re a child
OP
I almost posted a bitch just after I finished my 23 day bike trip along the general Nova Scotia coastline last June. I was just about to do the lockport loop and was at a gas station when an older man asked me what i was doing in the middle of nowhere on a bike packed with a bunch of equipment. After explaining that I was touring the full coast him, his wife and a friend were asking me questions about my camping system and how I keep the weight of it all low. After thinking I had what was to me a good conversation, and continuing on my way the man slowed down rolled down the window as I was biking and yelled out (Maybe if you made more money when you were younger you could afford a fucking car!). He drove off so i couldn’t tell him what I thought of that. It’s disturbing how fucked up some people are. he actually had a look on his face like i was torturing myself and it was my own fault.
Correction
I never toured the full coast (I skipped canso as well as many dead end roads). The route i took was around 3000km From Halifax around to Halifax. Ran into a tourer in Amherst who had just biked up from Mexico and was heading to St John’s and he was 60!
Why do so many people use “loose” for “lose” these days? Just typos?
Calling someone who cycles instead of drive lazy is obviously assinine as driving expends far less energy than biking. Ivan’s correct it’s more frugal than lazy.
loose for lose and coach for couch on kijiji.
an instead of and
dinning room (where one dines while making a din? )
things for sell
Daniel, did I get that right? this idiot pretended to have a friendly conversation with you to set you up for his yelling at you from the car later on?
I hate that biking means people think I’m interested in talking to them when I stop for something or other.
i’m immediately suspicious if someone in a car wants to talk to me, i figure they’re going to chuck something at me. true story
Or worse. Some good advice I’d read regarding touring (it was directed at women but applies to anyone) is to not give specifics of where you are going or how long you will be. Especially if riding alone.
I thought you meant the N word – nitwit
Good Dog Molly
That’s what my instincts told me. When he was talking to me he was a bit condescending in his questions that leaned towards “WHY” I was doing this. It’s nothing to do 120Km in a day and then camp out. maybe me explaining that to him was perceived as condescending by him. He was older, beer gut smoker, you know most likely too out of shape to go around the block more than twice.
Having people tweet crap like this at you or yell it at you does not make them your associates. But yes cheap is a reason to bike for sure. That’s one reason I do it. I also like being healthy.
don’t wear ear buds or whatever the hell they’re called these days. you can’t hear anything that might be gunning for you
