To the employees of a popular online daily deal website who camp out Monday to Friday at a popular java chain in the Hydrostone:

I come in twice every weekday (morning and afternoon) on coffee break and there you all are, walking around like you own the place, taking up all of the seats, talking loudly on your mobile phones and worst of all? You hardly ever even have a coffee in your hand.

Since when did a coffee shop become a personal office where you conduct business eight hours a day, five days a week? And in such an obnoxious manner? Get a fucking office and stop treating another’s place of business as your own. —Get Bent

  1. Have your spoken to the owner of the java pit? Are they somehow connected to this website? Could be they have two businesses being operated out of one.

I’d go elsewhere for my Juan Valdez jizz.

  2. What will they do when the novelty of online daily deals runs its course? Move into Parade Square?

  3. Whatever happened to those guys you’d see pushing around boxes of merchandise for sale? That was pretty shortlived.

  4. i remember those guys, weird pens and other crap you didn’t want. we’d try to head em off at the pass when they came in the shop

  5. it’s up to the owners of the establishment, to decide. if the op is speaking of buckstars, i don’t darken their doorway

  6. lol this sounds like something out of a sitcom. This would piss me off but I couldn’t help but laugh.. but then it would piss me off again.

  7. OP probably found them annoying, then made up a bunch of BS so they could complain about it on this website.

  8. OMG – Get Bent took the words right out of my mouth. I’ve complained to staff/management several times and there doesn’t appear to be an ‘in’ with anyone. Nowadays, if I happen to see one of their obnoxious vehicles parked in front, I keep on truckin’ to the next java joint.

  9. Yep, best thing with stores is to ‘vote’ with your wallet, and take business elsewhere. Not always an option, but sure is with java joints in this burg.

  10. As someone who sees these people EVERY day I can attest to the truth of this bitch.
I especially like when kids are in tow at the “office” and I guess the employees of this shop do too, or else wouldn’t they have been asked to leave by now? Or at least buy more coffee. That’s pretty cheap rent…

  11. As an ex-employee of such said java pit, I have to stick up for the targets of your bitches. We welcomed their business as indeed they do spend an above average dollar. In addition, lots of business meetings mean more people know about the location – many people in Halifax don’t. Finally my bitch is why be such a coward, sit down and tell them how you feel – don’t hide behind this rant column. If it still the same people, I know them to be kind and accommodating and would most likely buy the whole shop a round.
