Ladies, ladies, when did being warm and appropriately dressed for the weather become somehow unfashionable and unsexy? I don’t know how many under dressed girls I see walking around downtown Halifax at night, and it’s starting to drive me crazy! I get it, I was once young and looking to impress young guys at the bar, but guess what, I never forgot to wear my winter coat! Especially in the middle of February. I have witnessed many girls wearing an outfit only suitable for the summer months, and while a lady has every right to wear what she wants, she should not be so dumb as to forget her coat and rub her arms all night for warmth. Do you think that’s a hot look, or that someone will look on you and think that you are a smart person to respect? Do yourself a favour and bring your winter coat to the bar. It’s not unsexy to be warm. —Wearing a coat in winter

It’s not a new phenomenon, nor is it confined to the ladies. My high school daze are full of memories of mulleted dudes with the vintage 70’s porno-stache huddled outside in their jean jackets, trying to fold as much of their pocky faces around the dull ember of an Export “A” jammed in their mouth, as if that was the only thing between them and hypothermia.
I think we went to the same school, Ivan.
Winter garb at my high school was denim jackets over hoodies (which were called kangaroo sweaters back in the day).
Yeah, those bitches will learn, OB.
Function over fashion, I say. But then again, I’m in my fourth decade on this planet and I’ve learned. Nothing pisses me off more than being cold as shit on my way to work at 6:30 in the morning. I don’t LOVE wearing my ugly boots with my puffy ass jacket that makes me look like the stay puffed marshmallow girl, but I DO love being warm. So I’ll waddle down the street like a toddler in a onesie snowsuit because HAY I ain’t got time for feeling colder than frosty the motherfucking snowman.
Insist guys pull up their pants?
in the 60’s I wore micro minis with pantyhose (not even tights or leggings) and thigh high boots which left several inches of thigh exposed to the winterpeg winter. (30 below baby, not this chickenshit -15)
when I got to school I had to hammer my legs with a fist to get the blood going.
I am sure the flapper girls in the 20’s pranced around Chicago winters without mittens and balaclavas.
besides, coats get stolen in clubs by other girls who came out without one then realize how FUCKING cold it is out there.
AT THE BAR
“I get it, I was once young and looking to impress young guys at the bar, but guess what, I never forgot to wear my winter coat.” Wearing a coat in winter
Was it a long white ermine coat? Were you wearing anything underneath? When you bent over the bar did the coat flop open? Were the young guys impressed? Was the clientele continuous? What was your average evening take?
A pleasure as always,
Cheerio!
