I travelled from Cape Breton to see Halifax’s Canada Day fireworks that everyone I know rant and rave about. That was pathetic, they started earlier than the flyer advertised, lasted 2 minutes, and it was just a sad display. The fireworks that spectators were firing off were better than the main attraction. It wasn’t worth my time or money, I could have seen a better show back home. Halifax you let me down. —Where was the Boom?

I don’t know anyone who says good things about our “fireworks”. Sorry you wasted your precious time.
Next time just fly up to Ottawa….best celebration and fireworks in the country. Totally worth it.
Where’s the ka-boom? There was supposed to be an earth-shattering ka-boom!

Op … get bent
nice one clint ✓
ahthankyou, painey. 😉
lolz Me either, mel.
Seriously, wtf is so god damn great about fireworks. They’re the exact same thing every time. Waste of tax money if you ask me, I’m glad they only went on for 2 mins. Who the fuck goes on about fireworks? I can just picture “oh you have GOT to see the Halifax fireworks on Canada Day, they’re to DIE for!”
I’d tell that person to get a life.
I get to watch the fireworks from my balcony. The Canada Day fireworks started at 10pm, and lasted for 12 minutes. So, you are pretty much lying eh OP?
I saw the Bedford ones from my balcony. They were ok. I honestly wouldn’t be impressed with some elaborate display, we’re paying for it, it shouldn’t be too extravagant.
And if they were better people would be complaining that the city spent too much money.
Next year, stay in Cape Breton. I hear the fireworks are amazing there. heh.
i can’t remember where it was but there was a lengthy display set to music. i’m ambivalent, it scares the wee beasties
where i live, i can watch them in bedford basin. they are far superior to anything, that the city has been doing, for the last 5 or 6 years.i walk out my front door, sit on grass, have a smoke, and away we go. and they last a hell of a lot longer, than the halisux ones do. got good video last year, and had my little one out to watch this year. her first time, and she loved them.
had her primed with some stuff from net, so she wouldn’t get scared of the noise.and hopfully, she will get to watch with me again, for natal day ones.
You travelled from C.B. to Halifax only to see fireworks??? We have good shows some years, either Canada Day or Natal Day – but mostly it can be iffy. Ottawa is usually the primo spot for Canada Day fireworks. The show the other night was not as short etc. as you claim – but at least, for yourself, you now know enough not to trust the rants and raves of ‘everyone you know’ for things like movies, tv shows, free entertainment etc. Sheesh.
What you saw was most likely the tuning of the barge. The full show of fireworks was actually late by about 3 minutes (by our estimate) and lasted about 8 minutes (again by our estimate).
The best fireworks are the ones that you and your significant other make while home alone…bow chicka bow wow!
Wow, does that sound as cheesy as I think it does?
Go to NYC on the 4th for the fireworks – if you want a real fireworks show. Don’t expect them to happen here EVER. Fuck even the Bedford fireworks seemed to be better, and lasted longer, and started on time. What a fucking shit hole this place is! Can’t even get a fireworks display right! ugh…
From my Balcony, I viewed the Halifax Fireworks, the Bedford Fireworks, the great display from the Arm, and every Tom, Dick and Harry that set them off in their yard between Fairview and downtown. I have to say, the independant Fireworks were a much better show.
Yeah, the display wasn’t so great. Sad really.
People get all excited, wait on the brink, when the main event finally gets started, it lacks in stamina and finishes too soon.
C’est la vie.
LOL the only people who like those fireworks are four-year-olds and drunk people.
