Stop at the curb.

Look both ways before and during crossing.

Step down off of the curb and stop there.

Start crossing.

Don’t assume that the drivers and their cars will stop. Drivers can be distracted and cars can malfunction.

Watch the cars in oncoming traffic, make eye contact with them and make sure they are stopped before stepping out.

Raise your hand, palm out, to show that you noticed them and to offer a small thanks.

Pay more attention to the real world than a book or the virtual world, when crossing the street, because the real world can and will hit you dead in the face. Literally.

Don’t get me wrong, in no way do I like the idea of or want someone getting hurt, crippled or dead in a vehicle accident.

But.

Didn’t do all that? Congratulations, you might be hurt, crippled or dead. Additionally, if the human race is lucky enough, you’ve just won a Darwin award. Simply because you couldn’t take the time (maybe 30 seconds to a minute, at the most) to save a life.

This is for all the individuals who have been hit crossing a street, especially when they weren’t paying attention to the world around them or any car drivers who have hit someone when they also didn’t pay attention to the world; it looks good on you. Seriously, being that predictably stupid, suicidal/homicidal and overtly uncaring makes you look marvelous.

And for the parents who have been hit, it makes it even better. The reason it is better is because you have probably been teaching your offspring the very rules mentioned above and then you go about proving that those rules really shouldn’t be followed. In essence, you just proved that a supposedly trusted person has been lying to them, especially considering all the other times you have broken those very same rules in their perception.

If you are choosing to do something to increase the odds of killing yourself or of killing someone else on any road, while ignoring the proof showing that such a thing will happen, you are suicidal/homicidal, very violence-minded or just being very predictably stupid (these just had to be repeated). So for any of those reasons, if you are dead, you’ve just slightly gotten rid of someone who is (more than likely) damaging to society’s mental state.

As for the predictable stupidity, thinking that something with a greater, mass density and velocity can violate the laws of physics to stop on a dime or that a force field goes up the minute you step off the curb/hit a crosswalk button really shows your level of knowledge and wisdom, doesn’t it? In essence, you have been doing something thinking that you are immortal and/or invincible.

Uncaring? Guess what? You just proved that you don’t care about your own life, your friends’ and family’s feelings or the lives and feelings of a driver, their friends and their families. Not entirely, of course, just at the time that you might be in a dangerous life threatening situation and since people have died, yes, it is just that. Actually…sorry. That is my error, you do care about them, but probably only virtually. Once again, congratulations. It looks good on you. —futrethink

  1. why can’t the coast distinguish between a love and a bitch! also, you are a douchetard op.

  2. Take a Step Back.

I never said I was superior. How does what I put forward show that I am?
Read it through carefully and think about what I have put forward.

  3. Voice of Treason.

It is a love. I get my comedy from watching people make the same mistakes that have been recorded/written through known human history; those who forget the past are doomed to repeat it.
We have the statistics for Canada alone proving that pedestrians get hit by vehicles: https://www.tc.gc.ca/media/documents/roads…. So why can’t people remember and learn from the past how not to do the same?
As for your insult, certainly you could have come up with something above a schoolyard one?

  4. Do everything within your power to preserve your safety as you step off the curb.

Get struck by a vehicle driven by distracted/impaired motorist.

Get blamed by individuals like the OP anyway, since those of that ilk are often of the opinion that drivers of the vehicle are never in the wrong.

I would never wish this fate upon everyone, but I confess that my lips curl upward- ever so slightly- at the thought of something like this happening to the OP after they took the time to write a post that was so unforgiving in tone, and so disparaging of other people’s mistakes.

Something like *that* would appeal to *my* sense of dark comedy.

  5. It doesn’t show that you are, it reads as if you think you are. It sounds like you think anyone who has made a mistake deserves to die, and the world will be a better place for it. It read like you’re talking down to people.

Not sure if this is “comedy” or what, but that’s what I get when I read it.

  6. The amount of times you’ve responded to others responses OP shows me all I really need to know about you and your post. 3 of the 6 posts before this one are you trying to defend your position. First try having a defensible position. Getting satisfaction from watching other people’s mistakes isn’t comedy. Also, what I said wasn’t an insult per se, it was an observation. I save insults for worthy opponents.

  7. Take a Step Back.

    Alright, Take.
Do I think that anyone who makes a mistake deserves to die? No. As I stated already.

I do, however, believe in responsibility/fairness to myself and others and I apply that to how I see the world: do unto others as you would have done unto you and those you truly care about (not just say you do).

If you are responsible for predictably doing something that will knowingly cause pain/death to yourself or others, then suck it up buttercup. There is no-one else to blame for the easy to do and unforced choice you made.

Is that talking down to anyone or stating a fact about existence?

Does it read to others as you think it does? Probably. Does that make anything I have described any less than the attitude put forward by the people who act superior when crossing the street not caring what happens? Am I any more or less acting superior than what they are with my posted opinion or is it just that I have put it into words/a point and is something that doesn’t make people feel right/good.

If you feel acting superior is angering, what should you be feeling to them?

Is it a comedy? As a part of human beings/our society and our predictably, stupidly repeating mistakes it comes down to just one of the many.

  8. Voice.

“Getting satisfaction from watching other people’s mistakes isn’t comedy.” Really?

“Funniest home videos” ring a bell? The really good laughs in society all arise from others getting hurt and making the mistakes that cause that very same pain. Think about it and find anything that didn’t really give you a good laugh that didn’t involve a ‘pain’ of some type?

    Hmm, not an insult. http://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?…

What is it I’ve been told, in a paraphrased way, “It’s not what you mean, but how others read it.”

If I hadn’t had a position to defend, then there wouldn’t have been an attack. And should you ignore or defend from any attack that you feel comes from a wrong point of view? As you feel I have done in my attacking post.

You might want to take note that the picture was not placed there by me.

  9. Really, Mike?

How do you feel that what I was putting forward was a false view or of an undeserved importance? Seeing as how what usage I am trying to put forward with my opinion, in an underhanded way, is the importance of human life and stupid wastes of it is just that.

Perhaps you could also explain how I could put the full and multiple messages I am trying to impart in my opinion could be clearly put forward in small words? Seeing as how the attention of the majority of people relating to things shiny that have lost their shine and anything that doesn’t jump out at them seems short?

Perhaps I should have dumbed it down? Is this perhaps what you are attempting to communicate?

  10. Don’t bother having a differing opinion than futrethink. Clearly they plan to monitor any and all responses to their comments until the end of time and write long winded responses.

  11. Actually, Voice.

I have no problem with others having a differing opinion, but they had better be ready to back up what they talk about with facts and more grounded reasons. Prove to me that what you are talking about has a better backing to it, other than just what you believe, and that you have more numerous facts and reasons for what you are talking about and I will change my mind.

This is what I do and have when it comes to my opinions, so I usually have to explain it to those who don’t take the time to think about what I put forward.

Otherwise, you are just like Trump talking about building a wall, trying to use scare tactics and fluff to make people feel better.
In other words, you are just full of hot air.

Chuckle. And for someone who describes themselves as being able to use treasonous words, do you think about what you say or just say the first thing that comes to your mouth?

  12. Holy fuck, I can’t believe you won’t shut up. Or use point form. These long rambles are the very definition of tedious. Voice of T can, at least, cut through the chase and present her side without an endless babble of bullshit.

  13. Okay..Ahem..Getting drunk and stoned. Forgetting the evolution of intelligence and the English language to prove more than an animal. Watching Big Brother marahton…. a,n, n uhh
Aww, does the li’l asshat nut know how to read big wurds or big people books? Maybe when you get pas’d primary school dey won’t hurt your li’l brain. Here’s an idea, if you can’t take the heat, don’t play with matches; ignore what I write and this thread. Or is that too, two, to much for yur li’l comprehension, person who can’t even strain yur pea-nuts for a full word for a name.

  14. Your wordiness only indicates that you’re a crashing bore, futrethink. Betcha you were the same kid who ‘padded’ his school reports for quantity, not quality.

  15. Well…apparently in asking TTFB for evidence of their pre-judgement and offering other information I have offended someone at The Coast, due to my posts being blocked three times already.
Nice to know foul language will not be blocked but deeper thinking will be.

  16. And for the second part of the blocked posts:

Prove to me that what you are talking about has a better backing to it, other than just what you believe, otherwise, you are just like Trump talking about building a wall and full of hot air.

Unlike yourself, I don’t continue threads just to keep up pissing contests or just for shallow reasons. Mine involve actually thinking.
