I usually don’t bitch about the bus because it’s a waste of time and energy, but what the heck, bus drivers?! For the third time this week, one of you has screwed up the route I’m on or hope to take. I’ve talked to friends who take the bus and family who rely on the bus and they’ve all had multiple experiences where you’ve gone the wrong way over the past month or so. I know mistakes happen, but the frequency lately is just whack and something’s not right.

Look at your route maps, drivers, and stick a damn post it on your steering wheel to remind you which bus you’re actually driving if you have to! I’m sick of the hold ups and disruptions your ineptitude’s causing! —Le Sigh

  1. why should they. Bus drivers don’t need any education to get the job, why should they educate themselves on how to do the job. Not like there is repercussions.

Does this look like reddit or 9gag to you? No. So how about you fuck off.

  3. A lot of these “detours” are because of construction, not because a driver decides to take a different route. What do you think they just up and pull down another street because they are bored? lol come on!

  4. actually super when i took the bus i used to take the 89 almost everyday. At least 2 or 3 times a week i had to sit by the driver and tell them where to go because they had no idea where the route went once it got to the opposite side of the highway up hammonds plains.

  5. No super, they do it because they don’t know the routes. This is happening A LOT lately for no good reason. The five times it’s happened to me the driver has had to turn around and get back on route. It’s not because of construction.

    Ya asswipe.

  6. not to condone this, but sometimes they come off one route to start another, different one. and oft times, their small brain is still on the first route. i have been on one bus, that went way the fuck out of his way. the 52, instead of making right at bottom of main ave. he went up towards the windsor over pass, then realized his fuck up, and had to call control to get directions back to right course. fuck, i told him how to do it, and we waited for 30 minutes til some asshole, told him the EXACT SAME FUCKING ROUTE I HAD JUST TOLD HIM.

  7. First off, if the drivers keep making the same mistakes, call and complain, about it that is the only way it’s ever going to get fixed, second once a new route comes into existence the drivers are not trained on it, so it’s a learning process!

  8. Other than the ability to drive the bus one would think that knowledge of the bus route is the most important thing that bus drivers should know. Must be a lot of substitutions going on at Metro transit.

  9. Most times these “unplanned detours” occur, it’s because the driver had a momentary lapse. It happens to drivers both new and senior. On days I drove several trips on the 62, I would miss the turn into Manor Park at least once, and never on the first trip. Why? I was thinking about it then.

When it happens, drivers are trained to call for help if they are not 100% sure of how to correct themselves, just to cover their butts should something happen when they’re off route.
