Wtf is wrong with humanity? We seem to be hell bent on destroying ourselves and everything else that lives on this planet. The US recently announced plans to start drilling for oil in one of the most environmentally sensitive regions of the planet: Alaska. Ok; why do we need more oil? We are being told that the oil that is in the ground must stay in the ground if we want to avoid irreversible global warming. Now there are many that deny that global warming is real; those that say that it is part of a natural “cycle”.
We toss plastic into our oceans; which gets eaten by the fish and any other life forms. Is it that we just don’t care? Could it be that we are stupid?
Wake the hell up humans…Vulcans are cool. I suspect that Romulans and Kingons are polluters. —Bluesnozer

We throw plastic in oceans and drill for oil in environmentally sensitive areas. Yes, we are stupid. And it’s the Romulans, not the Klingons, who are to blame. Oh, and Stephen Harper. And my cat.
Well OP, Humans are what’s wrong with Humanity. Who would’ve have thought DEVO had it right.
Well you’re not wrong….. but your facts are… fish don’t eat plastic, they get caught in it and bringing oil out of the ground doesn’t cause global warming, burning it does.. It’s not that we don’t care, but we’d have to give up things like flying and this here internet thing with the way things currently are and a few dead fish arn’t going to kill the internet.
A MATTER OF BELIEF
“Now there are many that deny that global warming is real; those that say it is part of a natural ‘cycle.” Bluenozer
Yes, that’s true. There are many that deny that global warming is real. On the other hand there those, like Al Gore, who say that global warming is real. The problem is that you are not a scientist. Neither, for that matter, am I. Yes, the International Panel on Climate Change has maintained that climate change is real. However, there are also apparently well-informed climate-change deniers who say that it is part of a natural cycle. So who are we to believe and why do we believe them?
We live in a debunking age. We are leery of being debunked, of being made to look like a fool. For many climate change is one of those things that ought to be debunked. But are the debunkers wrong? Should the debunkers be debunked? Go ahead, but you’ve got to give both sides of the issue. And good luck with that.
A pleasure as always.
Cheerio!
Climate change and global warming is not a new thing. I’m just curious as to why all of the fresh cold water being dumped into the oceans isn’t causing a global cooling. Wtf is Dennis Quaid and his 4 wheel drive?
Ugh, stick to philosophy MM. OP Beeatch, it’s human induced climate change that’s the issue, everyone acknowledges that there are natural fluctuations in our climate. This will cause major humanitarian crises for the poorest people in the world, and will barely effect those who are most responsible, us, the consumers in 1st world countries. That’s the biggest issue, not the humans won’t survive, that people/corporations are profiting while they cause these imminent disasters.
And yes, humans are generally terrible. But it’s not just the rich and powerful, its regular janes and joes who use 3 kcups a day, who throw garbage out their window on the highway, who don’t properly sort their garbage. Most people just don’t give a shit.
Well TSB, in many ways the question of whom to believe on the issue of Anthropogenic Climate Change (AGM) IS a philosophical question as I pointed out, at least for those who do not, like you, claim to know the truth. But I can see that the bit is in your teeth: Not only do you know the truth about AGM but you also know who will be the most affected and, clearly more importantly from your unsubstantiated perspective, who is to blame and who will profit from it. If only your truth was as evident to all of us..
