Can someone please tell me why school was cancelled today? Is the rain outside acidic? Have we lost our fucking minds? There was barely any ice on the ground this morning, and by the time they’d have been let out this afternoon, there’d be nothing but rain, yet at the first little sign of anything remotely winter-like, we are cancelling schools? “Oh look, a snowflake..better cancell school for a week! Can’t have the children and teachers out in that havok!”
Please..give me a fucking break. We live in Canada..suck it up and get the fuck out there like everyone else.

When I left for work this morning, about 15 minutes before my kids would have left for school, I barely made it down the driveway without falling on my ass. I only made it to the bus stop with tiny, mincing steps and several near-falls. I am quite happy my children didn’t have to walk several blocks in that mess, crossing streets and walking up and down steep hills. It doesn’t have to be blowing a blizzard to be dangerous. Yes, when I was a kid we had to walk to school in much worse weather and it didn’t kill us. We also used to get dad’s belt across the ass when we acted up, and that didn’t kill us either. Just because we survived it doesn’t mean our kids should have to. People get pissed off when school is canceled -they think needlessly – because they are inconvenienced by it. But I care more about my children’s safety than my own convenience.
Its easy to say in hindsight, its precautionary and this year has been one of our worse years I dont see a problem…
