Does anybody know the Actual written in stone laws about crosswalks and right of way in them?
I am under the impression that at an intersection the pedestrian or vehicle that is in the intersection first holds right of way over all vehicles and/or pedestrians who have yet to enter. Crosswalks are part of the intersection. In a stand alone crosswalk the pedestrian must stop in the entrance of the crosswalk for 3 seconds to allow vehicles unable to stop time to pass, otherwise it’s jay walking.
If there is an authority out there who can confirm or refute this please do.
Please no “opinions” if you are a cop, lawyer or judge familiar with this law please clarify.

ACCORDING TO THE N.S. MOTOR VEHICLE ACT,YOU ARE SUPPOSED TO COME TO A COMPLETE STOP AT A CROSSWALK,AND MAY ONLY PROCEED IF AND WHEN THE PEDESTRIAN IS FULLY OUT OF SAID CROSSWALK.DOES THIS HAPPEN ANYWHERE IN HRM.NOT FOR ONE FUCKEN SECOND.THESE IDIOTS JUST ZOOM THRU,EVEN THOUGH YOU MAY BE JUST CLEAR OF THEIR PIECE OF SHIT CARS AND TRUCKS.HIT ME,AND I’LL BEAT YOUR HEAD IN,BET ON IT.
Actually, I heard there was a new amendment that made it obligatory for drivers to stop at any intersection (crosswalk or not) when someone is clearly trying to cross. I am curious about this too and I have calls into librarians to check this out. I will post more when I have an answer.
PS Section 125 of the Motor Vehicle Act covers pedestrian’s rights http://www.gov.ns.ca/legislature/legc/stat…
Don’t you know OP, everyone here is an expert on all things worth bitching about. No opinions, just facts.
If you are interested in real answers I suggest you do your own research. Or at least phrase you research request in the form of a bitch.
Ok, I just geeked out.
An amendment in 2007 just clarified this: see 9 Section 125

Or read the g.d. rules of the road, pages 42 & 43.

I have to get back to production day work. Now you know the rules, go and bitch about ’em.
Ok so Thank you Andy.
This seems to verify my understanding except for the three second part.
And miles I didn’t want to bitch outright until I knew I was correct.
That said.
To the GD bus driver who called me an asshole after clearly violating My right of way at the West end mall Tim Hortons; Go F#ck yourself you coward.
You are at least a foot taller than me and didn’t have the guts to come face to face.
Since you weren’t at the curb or even on the sidewalk yet approaching the crosswalk when I entered the intersection I clearly had right of way to exit.
You’d think a bus driver would know the rules of the road or at least be motivated by self interest, when you step out in front of a moving car even in a crosswalk you lose no matter who has right of way.

See Ron, That’s how it’s done! Nice Bitch!
look both ways before you cross and go from there.
I say just dart out in front of traffic, this way you’ll receive a Darwin award, and there would be one less person to worry about!
