I agree with Elvis – it’s hard, but the sooner you can let it go, the happier and more fulfilled you’ll be. Their selfishness and self centredness shouldn’t spoil something that obviously means alot to you; let it be their cross, not yours.
I too have learned that you can pick your “friends” but you can’t pick your family….I have had a crazy relationship with them, and have just recently done the same thing…DONE AND OVER….It sucks now, but as everyone else has said sometimes you have to live life for you!! AND CONGRATS IN YOUR HARD WORK AND ACCOMPLISHMENTS!!

Well its an unfortunate story OP, and I empathize… But let me ask you this… Suppose something happened tomorrow so that you never got to see your “shittiest friends and family” for the rest of your life… What would that feel like, and would that really be what you want… Life is short… We all get slighted from time to time … Be the bigger person, suck it up, and get back in there…

in essence, floyd said the same thing as i, I just called it whining. I also didnt suggest to get back in there. I didnt go the sympathetic route. I guess, you see what you want around here. I could have put, “exactly what floyd wrote” or i could have put, “couldnt have said it any better floyd”, but i didnt. I put “floyd 1- whiner 0”.
