Dear feminine sounding male asshole with the beard on the bike traveling to Halifax last Friday in the bike lane on the MacDonald Bridge: In case you didn’t notice, there’s a fucking bus strike! That means I have to walk 45 minutes to work. I was running late on the morning that you decided to raise your voice to tell me that “this is the bike lane” and that the other side… Basically you just need to fuck off. I have no interest in wasting 5 minutes to wait for a light to change so that I can dodge angry motorists who aren’t even paying attention to the lights in the first place, only to do the same thing when I get across the bridge just so that you can have your precious fucking bike lane to yourself. If someone on their bike was stopped so that they could take a cell phone call, enjoy the view, or whateverthefuck, would you give a shit or would you simply drive around them. Furthermore, if you didn’t have your bike to speed off on would you call me an asshole to my face? I doubt it. I’m not your child. You are not my authority. Quit being a timid little pussy, get off your bike and either speak your mind like a man the next time you have an issue with me or FUCK OFF! —The Man That Walks 45 Minutes Back and Forth to his 12 Hr Work Shift 5 Days a Week

  1. Walking home from Dartmouth on Saturday, I actually did get bumped by a car at that set of lights where the walking lane ends on the Halifax side of the bridge. The guy looked mortified, but it was only a bump and I saw him coming. People have to be more aware nowadays because of the increase in pedestrians, no more turning turning through red lights without a shoulder check.

  2. Hey fuckwad, the cyclist was right (holy fuck, did I say that?). It’s a fucking bike lane. If he was on the pedestrian side you would have been screaming bloody fucking murder. What a Self Entitled Twat. He should have forced you off the bridge.

  3. OP: You sound like the type of asshat that would be the FIRST person to complain if the roles were reversed….if there was a cyclist riding on the pedestrian side of the bridge because he “couldn’t be bothered to cross over to the proper side and do it the right way”, you’d be screaming blue bloody murder, calling them every expletive known to man and threatening physical violence if he’d just “get off his bike and speak his mind like man, the timid little pussy”, wouldn’t you? This cyclist had every right to be pissed and say something to you.
You, OB are a tremendous douchebag. Don’t be so fucking lazy and cross over like you’re supposed to. If you’re running late, leave home earlier. And there are many more safer options to cross the street legally then where you describe. Not so for cyclists. (So stop blaming the bus strike and the inattentive drivers for your lack of planning, dick.) Otherwise, go ahead and keep using the bike lane as your own personal pedway, but don’t come crying to us if and when you get mowed down by that 21 speed Specialized. You’ll get no sympathy here.

  4. Holy fuck, am I with Bro Tim?

What would you do if you saw someone on a bike on the walker side? Doff your cap and say, hey dude, crossing this street sucks pond water. Be my guest. And feminine sounding? If you were near the crest of the bridge, props to the biker for having any voice at all. I pant like a dog by the time I get to the top!

Bottom line: you are not the victim, OP. Get a bike if you want to use that side of the bridge.

  5. Like one already said the bike lane is not for pedestrians!! Poor muffin you were running late and figured it gave you the right to walk in the bike lanes? He should have hit you with his bike for walking on thw wrong side.

  6. You were in the bike lane, asshole. You couldn’t take 5 minutes to cross your lazy ass to the other side of the street, and instead you’re inconveniencing the cyclists that are in the bike lane and have to go around you.
Fuck you, OB.. you’re as bad as the cyclists that ride on sidewalks. I hope one mows you down next time.

  7. Let them bike & walk on BOTH SIDES !
I’ve walked across that bridge & those walkways/bikeway are more than large enough to allow both sides to have room … unless you form a wall of 4+ people to block the whole width .
The access on both sides are a nightmare/ accident waiting to happen.
So what exactly is wrong with everyone using a little curtisy for their fellow man & SHARING THE DAMN SPACE !

  8. Sorry, no sympathy, you were in the wrong and deserved to get yelled at. At least one bicyclist in this city has been injured because a pedestrian was in the bike lane. I know this because I witnessed it from my office window a couple of years ago. So, do what you should be doing and walk on the CORRECT side of the bridge.

  9. Coasting on the downgrade on the bridge, a bike can easily do 40kph (or more). Not the place for pedestrians who would clearly be at fault for being there in the first place given all the signs that indicate that lane is for bicycles only. A collision wouldn’t be pretty for either party. Can you say ‘lawsuit’?

  10. aww, only 45 mins to walk to work???? and agreed to all the other comments. would it be ok for you to yell at him if he were on his bike on the pedestrian side? i dont think so. you’re a douche.

  11. thats what you get when you put bike lanes on a sidewalk. the bike lane should be on the regular part of the bridge just like any other downtown road.

  12. OB, you and Abe should get together and hammer out the rules for pedestrians and cyclist. Frig, I’d pay to see that 😉

  13. had you been mowed down from the 40km/h biker, you’d have your ass sued right off….
I’m serious. you would need to buy a new ass…
and do you have any idea how much they go for?

do us all a favor and stick to the rules so you don’t break a hip… or anyone else’s for that matter.
