Q: What do you call a teacher that volunteers their time to coach basketball?
A: A Poser. They don’t actually give a shit about the sport unless the school board is kissing their ass. —when this is over, I want your resignation.

I think you’re confusing two different matters…
No rocket science here
The teacher has confused coaching with unpaid teaching tasks like marking exams.
Teachers keep forgetting that they work 9 months of the year for above average pay in the province!
They get 2 full months of best weather off which no one else gets, in additional to vacation time and sick time, not to mention in-service days, Christmas, spring break and snow days, which I’m very sure none actually complain about, yet somehow manage to find something to complain about.
That’s fine. I’ll tell you what. Go work for a private organization like most of us, or even better yet, go live in Syria for a change then come complain about how fucking good you have it here!
I’ve never seen so many people complain about how good things are, and do their best to show how ungrateful they are.
Thank God I don’t have kids! I wouldn’t want my kids to be taught such “valuable” lessons in life!
Answer : Just another ordinary volunteer, like all those other ordinary volunteers who are not teachers.
O.P, I don’t think you know how questions work.
This question is very vague to me. I’m not sure I understand its purpose… Also, to the person who listed in-service days as one of the many benefits teachers get that other do not, I might remind you that “in-service” means that the teachers are ‘in service’, as in they are participating in mandatory professional development and meetings, not sitting at home collecting vacation pay.
Ha, Randomness. SO Random.
Hospital staff manages PD days without sending patients home, so STFU mackra1
I’ve also come in after a PD day to find my son’s primary teacher has colored a bunch of posters for the classroom wall. So NO, not all teachers are in special instruction and mandatory meetings.
I think parents should just drop their kids off at sports, go have a coffee or something, and mind their own business. It’s just kids playing a game. The helicopter parents are driving away all the people who are willing to give up thier precious time to volunteer.
@Great Value, as a former teacher I know that they usually spend half of the day listening to the “idea of the month” when it comes to bullying prevention, study skills or whatever, then they get the rest of the day off. Some actually spend it doing teacher-type stuff (like coloring), but the more experienced teachers just take the half day. Maybe they should be using those days to do all those pesky tasks they don’t want to be forced to do anymore, like student reporting, photocopying or learning how to accommodate multiple learning types into a classroom?!
What do you call a Fire Fighter, Police Officer,Milk Man,farmer,Carpenter,Plumber….etc, that coaches Basketball,hockey,soccer…..etc.?
That is actually called a VOLUNTEER!
Fack Sakes! People these days!Something seriously wrong with society when your seeing questions like this.
