To the HRM Recyclables program, YOU CAN DO MORE! I am a concerned citizen who loves the city I live in, and I want you to do more for me! Make it easier to dispose of yogurt containers, margarine containers, and advertise that we can recycle number 4 packaging (not all, but most) for example, the toilet paper that is environmentally friendly is in number 4 packaging which I can recycle, but I had to call the city to figure out where the packaging is supposed to be disposed of! AND to the public STOP LITTERING! the garbage is right there! Don’t you want to have kids?

Finally, to the restaurants using styrofoam-STOP IT! I WANT THIS WORLD TO SURVIVE PAST 2012! HELP ME BUY YOUR FOOD by using number 1 or 2 plastic packaging instead of Styrofoam because until you do, I will not buy anything from you, and this goes to the ethical coffee wrapped in environmentally unfriendly packaging too. I want to have kids, but you are stealing my right to have a future with your environmentally unfriendly packaging.

Help me buy your stuff by using responsible packaging.
The future of the environment is up to us

  1. Haha blogwhore!
I’ve just been putting yoghurt containers in the recycling, I always assumed they were recyclable. I never checked them for the 1 or 2 stamp. Oopsies

  2. I never check the numbers either. If it’s made of plastic, I put it in the blue bag. I always figured it’s better to err on the side of caution.

  3. What the hell does litter have to do with having kids. Sheesh. Well I suppose if you have more than two at once it could be called a litter.

  4. Number 4 plastics will probably never be taken in HRM, they would lose too much money collecting them, at least with the #1 and #2, they can be sold to off set the cost of pickup… if you REALLY care about the use of these other plastics, get in contact with the manufacturers who use these cheap low grade plastics that are worthless.

  5. Check out near a certain recycling plant in Bayers Lake … you’ll see plenty of recyclables…only most are along the ditches outside the main building. I don’t know why the city doesn’t get after them for polluting and littering.
