To the person in the white truck who laid on the horn at a woman in blue walking down Main Ave at 9:50 Wednesday morning;
Yes, I was walking on the road, leaving you only ten feet of the twelve foot wide lane on which to drive your six foot wide truck. Sorry. In my defense, there is no sidewalk on that side of the street. There is a grassy slope which is currently covered with lumpy uneven ice. If I attempted to walk there, I would probably slip and fall into the path of traffic. Unfortunately, the bus stop I needed to get to is on that side of the street. So, my options were to cross at the crosswalk and walk for half a block on the side of the road, or stay on the sidewalk and cross a busy street in the middle of the block. Both are unsafe, and both are guaranteed to piss off impatient motorists like your good self. Please notice that I have refrained from telling you to go fuck yourself. That’s because I realize that you have no idea this situation exists, not just on Main Ave. but in many areas throughout the city. Now you do. Consider this a public service announcement. —The Voice of Reason

And people wonder why they are being hit by cars… it’s the damn bus stop’s fault!
This morning most drivers were moving slow and cautiously due to the very slippery road conditions. …. except for the guy careening along at full speed and swerving around everyone else. Is he a surgeon on the way to perform an emergency transplant? Probably not……. and enough said.
Big Truck, small dork syndrome….
So you walk on the street where you could slip and fall in front of traffic. You all know cars can stop on a dime, especially on ice and snow covered roads.
And there was a sidewalk on the “other” side of the road! 😉
That’s probably not being used either 🙂
I call this evolution. I didn’t want to believe it but society is getting dumber!
Main Ave is one of the main arteries in that part of the city. Lot of traffic. Crossing in the middle of the block doesn’t seem like the safest alternative either.
Once more:
Here’s what I don’t understand about the frozen tundra around here: one person is behind the wheel of a 2000 pound vehicle, warm and cozy. Has it made except he’s an impatient twit. Meanwhile, an unfortunate (and freezing) pedestrian is trying to make it to a bloody bus stop with no available sidewalk. You’d really think that driver would be the bigger person and allow some leeway, wouldn’t you? Not in this town, I fear to say.
Bingo and chicken bones.
THE GRASSY SLOPE VS THE CROSSWALK ON MAIN AVE
“Both are unsafe, and both are guaranteed to piss off impatient drivers like yourself.” The Voice of Reason
You made the correct choice. However, you must understand that reason is in short supply along Main Ave, or so I understand. Some claim it’s the water but I claim it’s a matter of genetically-induced subnormal intelligence.
A pleasure as always.
Cheerio!
