Yes, another winter bitch!
As we all know the city is trying to clear the roads as quickly as possible after each storm. With so much accumulation and so little space roadways become congested and with the addition of the ice from our last storm they have become hazardous in areas.
So WHY do Metro transit busses still feel they should be able to operate as usual. On my commute to work in Burnside I tend to get stuck behind these busses often. The usual 2 lane street I take is down to 1.5 in some areas. I know that the busses have the right of way when the indicator lights are on but…. Why am I constantly being nearly shoved off the roadways while trying to pass these stopped busses??? If your indicating to the right I should not have to worry about passing you on the LEFT! The lanes are small, the snow banks are high… it’s not easy for any of us to get around.. NO NEED to make things worse by running people off the roads in the few safe areas!
Also on a side note. I appreciate the nightly street cleaning but would really appreciate the tractors being taken off the roads prior to rush hour… the morning commute can be stressful as it is and no one wants to be delayed by a tractor going 20kms below the posted speed limit on a main street!

Two things: While the city has been attempting to clear the snow as quickly as possible, they have not done a very good job of it at all. This is what’s causing the traffic congestion.
Secondly: Just because you have a car, it doesn’t mean you have the right of way on the roads. I realize that you’re spending thousands of dollars every year on your precious vehicle but that doesn’t give you rights over anyone else. You are the sucker that’s wasting your money. You don’t get special privileges as a result.
Get a horse.
take the bus op.
Yeah, the bus drivers dont even look before pulling out. Even if I was in the wrong and was passing when the bus had the right of way… what moron bus driver would continue putting passengers at risk of injury…. the answer is everyone of them.
Blow it out your rear manuel, you as 95% of the population don’t have a clue about buses or the drivers and what we have to put up with on a daily basis from idiots such as yourself. Blah, blah, blah. An empty bus is a happy bus.
Yours truly.
Which is why there are signs saying the vehicle makes wide right turns and left turns for that matter. Every long vehicle does, or did you miss that part in driving school.
Hey Wheels. I have a real trade, a real job. Man I miss when the buses were on strike.
^^^ I have to admit that I did enjoy seeing far greater numbers of people walking and cycling to work during the transit strike. I suspect it was good for our collective health.
And there seemed to be more carpooling during the strike …. but now we’re back to the status quo. I counted one day and 4 out of 5 vehicles was carrying only one person. That can’t be good.
I have a lot of empathy for anyone who works serving the public. Most people are decent but there are going to be some pretty nasty ones in the mix.
That said, I think that anyone who takes a job in a service industry needs to be aware that you are not being paid to simply drive the bus, serve the food, or ring in the purchase. You are mostly being paid to interact with the public. If you don’t want to do that or know that you don’t have the right disposition then you would be better off driving a truck, working in the kitchen as a cook, or managing inventory in a back room – something with less public interaction.

ANOTHER PROFUNDITY

“I have a lot of sympathy for anyone who works serving the public… You are mostly being paid to interact with the public.”
But serving the public is conceptually identical with interacting with the public. You can’t do one without doing the other. Another profundity from The Pussy. Of course the real take-away point here is not those serving the public but rather the fact that The Pussy has a lot of sympathy for them. What a guy!
A pleasure as always,
Cheerio!
I still have no idea why he’s all for empty buses…
that just means more people in the way, until the city would realize there’s no point in having busses no-one is taking and then he’d be out on his ass.
I agree it’s not an easy job throughout the year but he’s just such a dick.
When I approach a bus I check to see the people boarding it. If there is still one or two about to get on, I pass the bus. If the last person gets on before I get to the bus , I wait even if the right signal is still going.
I really haven’t had an issue with the heavy snow removal equipment at rush hour.
