OK you assholes. Yes, yesterday during not only the first snowfall of the year, but a heavy one, the buses were late and for a while, they couldn’t go over the bridge. Get over it, calm down, and be glad you’re on one at all instead of out in the cold. The people who were bitchy to drivers that can only do what they’ve been told to do, or who were ready to throw other transit users under the bus to appease the winter and/or transit gods were absolutely embarrassing to be on a bus with. Can we all just be normal people today, please. —Embarrassed Transit Commuter

Doesn’t bode well for the Zombie Apocalypse, does it OP.
I actually thanked my drivers and told them to have a safe trip, what was point of bitching to them, they didn’t cause the storm or bad roads, and besides there were more dips smashing there cars and trucks into everything then the buses.
Bitching at Bus drivers stuck in traffic is like bitching about Police officers not picking up garbage on the highway.
Ignorant.
Maybe it was where I was coming from and the fact that my route is on a 20 minute rotation, but all things considered, my ride wasn’t that bad going home. The worst part was when I got to lacewood and had to wait for a bus up to Parkland. And then the walk from the stop to my building was pretty shitty, but that was my own fault for not going out and buying boots in time for the snow. All I had on my feet were little kitten heels and it was a rough go. But like I said, it was my own fault, I learned my lesson and am purchasing boots tonight!
In any event, I agree with this bitch. Snow in November? Gee, what a concept! If you don’t have your winter tires on by the november snow falls (because it happens every year, idiots), than it’s your own damn fault.
And to those on transit — bring a book/charge your smartphone, sit back and relax.
winter be hell o.p., but it will come, sure as death and tax time. it is something a lot of us could really do withut. but it will still be there to haunt us, sometime.
LOL. That’s what you get for taking that shit transit. If you had your own car, like most sensible people, you’d have been home in no time…….of course, you’d also have winter tires 🙂 To the people waiting for the buses, enjoy the slush puddle drive-bys.
seb, that is funny. did you actually hear about a bus involved in any accident, i didn;t. only cars and light trucks.i would rather have a big fucking honker bus body around me, than some of those little tin can cars on the road today. did you see some of the pics of them, totaled out most were. too light, too small, and too cheaply made. not eneough real metal, to make a decent can out of. all plastic and shit. no seb, we are not stupid, just a lot safer in a bus. and big deal, less idiots giving you the finger in traffic too.
see bud, there is a bright side to riding the bus, plus you get to see a varied cross section of the denixens of halisux. try it sometime, you might even meet someone to fuck you. there are a lot of gay males ridng buses. and females too. i know of at least 5 on them. and some real nice straight people too.
It took me only ten more minutes than usual to get home on the bus… I must have had the only good route or I’m just good luck ;D
I’m the OP and I had a ridiculously long ride on the bus from Dalhousie to Eastern Passage but there’s just no excuse for some of the behavior that I witnessed from fellow transit users yesterday, ridiculous behavior from grown ass men and women. It was yucky and Metro Transit never works well first snow storm of the year and I know this now- I wore good mitts and boots, and made sure my mp3 player had lots of podcasts on it to keep me company (I think I also napped). Pretty funny to see everybody become hysterical when the 41 Dartmouth didn’t turn down onto the MacDonald bridge, though I was a bit sympathetic that they obviously didn’t know they were in for a long haul over the MacKay.
smile&wave I thanked my driver and wished him a safe journey when I got off too 🙂
sebastian if I had taken my theoretical car, I wouldn’t have had anywhere to park it at Dalhousie anyway! I probably would have written a different bitch 😉
I walked 25 mins up hill to work. Then I walked 25 mins home. Snow high? Sure. Nothing some good ol’ Wal Mart boots and a big hood can’t take care of. So glad I don’t rely on busses.
there are some nice loves for the drivers on the flip side
jgoreham from the news reports I was hearing you were better off than many people who were stuck , off the road or in fender benders…or stuck behind the fenderbenders….& who ever said they would rather have a big ole bus around them than a shit box car, do I ever agree.
I had my shit box in town although I came home long before rush hours, I sure wish I was in my 3/4 ton crew cab pickup truck
Yeah, I know- I did have a 45 minute wait at the bridge, but like I said, we all knew it was going to storm, so I dressed appropriately. I shouldn’t be allowed to operate a motor vehicle (I sure as hell wouldn’t license me if I were a board of authority for that) so I was quite chuffed to be on a nice warm bus (when it finally arrived).
There were quite a few bitchy people on my bus last night. I might have ran late but I never got stuck or hit anything/anyone.
OP, you are totally correct. If we are trying to pick you up we should be trying in person not on a bitch board. So when can we meet you in person?
