They blame everythign they can blame except the most obvious issue. THey admit there will be a shortage of workers, they admid the boomers will all retire at once, they admit that now is the time to act. Yet, how do they plan on acting?
They plan on throwing more immigrants at the problem, throw more tax breaks at the problem and hope it goes away. It won’t.
The problem is that you can not afford to live in Nova Scoita on the horribly insulting salaries they offer. Why can’t someone just admit that?
And don’t give any cost of living bullshit, yes, car insurance is cheaper – real estate is a fraction cheaper – made up for by the fact that living in nova scotia you will jsut pay so much more for gas and the imperitive of owning an auto as there is no public transit what so ever.
Pay more, the critics argue “Where does the money come from?” Answer? Tax dollars – can’t they see that with more pay the big wigs in govt will pad the provinces coffers with more tax dollars?
Governemtn needs to lead by example. If public service sector slaaries increase, private sector will be forced to follow suit. Governemtn will reap the tax dolalrs and be able to offer incentives to business to stay and grow in Nova Scotia.
It’s so simple, yet we will just throw some immigrants and tax breaks at the problem and wonder why they all just pack up and move to Toronto once they realize they can make twice as much there.

Nova Scotia has tons of labour…it’s just all in Alberta.
yeah, life can be a bitch. just not for most of the aways. there is no fucking way an honest person can get ahead in this province anymore. sure, bring in all the fucking people from where ever you want to, but make sure there are no jobs that locals can do aren’t filled first. most of the employers in this province have one thing in mind, profits. the only way to get ahead here is to either be a politition,or be lucky enough to win a lottery.if you are a hard worker, you might be lucky to pick up a small job here and there. but most of the preople here can’t make due on minimum wage. not with taxes, rents, utilities going up every second month. and the pay scale staying the same, piss poor. we need a new way of living, or a new brain in immigration. don’t get me wrong, i’m all for it, but wait til things are better in the work force first. i tried a bunch of different shit,no dice, not enough money. then i decided to take a chance and start my own, one person business, and it seems to be working out quite well.yeah, i can see the o.p.’s disgust,we all should. canada for canadians first , this is a message we all should be sending to all levals of government. until we voice our concerns, pour concerns will remain mute and moot.

You know, I watched an interesting documentary a couple of weeks back on the CBC, no less. It was called: “Hyper Parents & Coddled Kids”. It was a fascinating look into Gen Y’s issues with the workplace, and with childhood in general.
How it all relates back to the bitch is as such: Gen Y has issues with starting from the bottom. It’s really not their fault either; most of Gen Y has been told they’re “special”, which causes all kinds of problems. I think you can watch it on the CBC website still.

Canadians expect more from you in the way of hospitality and cooperation. I’m a prime example… I came here, didn’t like what I saw, hired a labour force to make a difference but after a couple of years working at it I see you’re a bunch of asshats I don’t want to know let alone help. For that reason my peon employees will be pounding the pavement in just a few short months contributing to the problem while I take the jobs to a more hospitable region of Canada.
