Couriers! What a frustrating “service”! I appreciate that the majority of their clients are business’ shipping/recieving mail, but some is residential as well. Why do they only come by in the middle of the day when pretty much everyone is at work! Why would I be home then? Why cant they come in the evening for residential mail?

That would be an OUTSTANDING service for a courier company to market – evening or weekend delivery. I.e. at a time when there is a reasonable chance the recipient might be home…

Now that they have come 3 times in the middle of the workday and I have (predictably) NOT been home – I have to try and figure out how to take transit to frickin’ Burnside to get my stupid parcel! What a waste of time…. ARGGGGHHHHH!!!!

  1. This bitch really resonates with me. Courier companies in this town are HOPELESS. I am having stupid bad luck getting stuff delivered to me.

  2. I guess, save for a few busy times of year (Christmas and the like) there’s no business for it. Most of those guys get paid commission for the deliveries, and I’m sure that plays a part too.

  3. perhaps there should be more potential drop off points for when they cannot deliver directly…
I know I only need go a couple blocks to get any parcel I happen to miss.
not terrible, though an evening delivery service would be pretty sweet.

  4. I have had the same problems. One time I was having something delivered, they came in the middle of the day and I wasn’t home. When I got home, I found the slip, and called them to tell them that I would NOT be home tomorrow, so don’t try and deliver it. They took down all my information, and confirmed things. Then they came the next day TWICE, and tried to deliver the package. That counted as my 3 attempts, so I had to go pick it up in burnside.

At the very least there needs to be a place in halifax where they will leave things for pickup. And it needs to not close at 6pm.

  5. their place is at 49 pettipas dr. in burnide.try doing something smart, like looking in a phone book next time.

  6. okay people, who knocked off or out kay.this is getting real weird here, she hasn’t been here in a couple days now.shit, get the fucking dogs out,she might be trapped under santa and his elves.or maybe she was kidnapped by more aliens, and they took her back for more debriefing?

  7. O.k, I’m I the only person that see’s this as a ridiculous bitch. Perhaps the reason they are delivering during the day when everyone is working because they too are working during that time…? Does it really make sense to extend hours, raising costs all to accommodate a very small group of people that use the service?

  8. I don’t think it’s an irrelevant bitch.

FedEx USED to have a depot on Barrington Street. I found it very useful on many occasions—for business and personal shipping uses.

I think they made a huge mistake when they closed it. I rely on ExpressPost now instead.

It would be VERY useful to many people if they brought some kind of drop-off/pickup centre back to a central location like Scotia Square or even Halifax Shopping Centre or something. AND kept it open a little later than 6:00 pm.

Sadly, I have no delusion that this will change, but I agree with the OP that the current set-up is a real inconvenience. (Especially when you consider what they charge.)

  9. Good bitch…I often wonder how couriers stay in business without evening delivery. I guess they get enough business from stay-at-home housewives ordering off Ebay for their slightly cracked Lady Di plates and David Hasslehoff chia pets…

  10. I have yet to deal with multiple attempts to deliver a package. If I’m not home the first time they have brought the package to me, they hang something on my door telling me they were there, and that my package is at such and such drop off/ pick up location. This way i can get my package at my own convenience!

  11. If you all know that the courriers deliver in the DAY time how about YOU take a little piece of time and give your WORK address, where you WILL be during the day, to whomever will be sending you the package?

Would this not make a little more sense?

  12. HEY!
don’t knock the hoff! I’m looking forward to hearing his christmas album tonight….
    and watching santa with muscles!

really though, would it kill them to work noon to 8pm to get both crowds?

  13. A lot of workplaces have policies that forbid personal mail/courier delivery to the workplace…like mine for example. Luckily I have a car to get to the FedEx depot but I can’t imagine trying to get a bus out there only to go in for 2 minutes and wait another hour for the bus to return.

Evening service would be a fantastic service…..and it’s not like it would cost a company much to provide it. I imagine there is a whole host of people out there who would love to do it as a part-time gig from like 6 to 9 pm to earn a few extra bucks.

  14. In the case I mentioned earlier, I was having my iMac delivered. So I HAD to get someone to drive me to burnside, because there’s no way I could have brought it home on the bus. I will defo try the drop off at Kinkos next time, but you’d think they would have offered to do that considering they know I live like 10 mins from there.

  15. Xpress Post?? Then it will get delivered to the nearest post office, and there are a lot more than one of those!

  16. The courier service that starts with a P sucks ballz as well !
Those guy’s screwed us for the last time in 2008 & we’ve not used them since.

  17. Ah yes, the FedEx/Kinko’s arrangement had come into service since my last time using FedEx.

I will keep this in mind next time, as it looks like an improvement on the “burnside” system.

    Thanks!
