I think the following should be added to the bottom of Metro Transit schedules…
#80, 5 mins late into halifax, 5 mins early out
#9 always 5 mins early
#7 Late in nice weather, early when there is precipitation, on time when mediocre
#42 Often early, may not show up at all, but do not worry for they are every 20 mins.
Wouldn’t it be nice if a bus schedule reflected reality?

I think the following should be added to all Metro Transit bitches from now on
“Another Boring Metro Transit Bitch”
I wonder how much it would cost to outfit the buses or at least their drivers’ cell phones with GPS tracking software that interfaces with Google Maps. thewons, you may be onto something there!
I’d love to see this guy drive a bus and keep it on time. Seriously, 5 minutes is puny in the grand scheme of things. How about leaving earlier? and being early as opposed to being exactly on? I hope you’re just going to and from school; if you’re employed and rely on the buses to get you there right on time, you’re not gonna be employed for long.
When I had the misfortune of living in Sackville for a little while I had to catch the 7:20 bus to be at work for 9am at the willow tree intersection area. I’d get off at 6pm and be home between 7:30 and 8pm.
No wonder people own cars.
It’s simple, just take the bus that comes before the one that you’d usually get on. I know it sucks if the wait in between is long, means you have to get up earlier. But I suck it up and for the most part it works…
The bus I take has this annoying little habit of being fifteen minutes early in the mornings, and sitting idle at a bus stop three stops past mine to make up the excess time. I never know if I should start running or stay put.
But if you’re getting the earlier bus anyway it’s all good. Unless of course the rotary is backed up, which it always is. Man, I meant for this comment to be optimistic. Fail.
I was told by a customer service rep with MT that a bus isn’t really even considered “late” (or “late” enough to warrant a major schedule change, etc…) unless it’s 15 minutes+ late.
Being late is one thing, leaving early is quite another. I hate it when drivers do this. Driver who leave early are fucktards. I don’t care HOW nice they are.
I could live in Bridgewater and drive to work in the same amount of time it would take for me to take a bus from sackville to halifax. Dedicated bus lanes the length of the bedford highway are probably too “crazzeee” for this burg.
I hate it when buses leave early too. Until I’m on it and then, as far as I’m concerned, floor it.
Personally I swear MT will lose ridership when they finally have Go Time GPS based. I mean think about it who will wait around for a bus that’s supposed to leave every 15 minutes and won’t arrive for an hour?
point is, they’ll know it’s not going to be around and so they’ll check the other bus options to find the quickest one.
Or say you’re shopping and you know you’re almost done… but you just missed the last bus because it was early (far fetched, I know) and the next is projected to be there in 32 mins. Now you don’t have to go and wait a while to realize you’ve missed the last one. you can grab a bite or something and mosey over when it’s about to arrive.
@ Broc
haha you know I thought of that before i posted… thats why I figured I would mention Rider’s Guide in the title 😛
Another Transit bitch…*sigh*
