Moving to Toronto – Nuff of this place.. I will pay my high rent in a bigger city thank you…. (waits to be mobbed by the hippy happening anti toronto halagonians and dodges the tomatoes). Anyways, why is it so hard to find something there, every aprtment that is listed is for RIGHT NOW, obviously wont be availabel in a month when I move. Why can’t they post apartments for the next month? Jeeze, even tho its just as expensive to rent there as it is in halifax, its so hard to actually find something avaialbel in a month!

  1. Have fun in T.O. Good luck with navigating the 401 and all the shit that a big city entails ; ie gun play, more murder, gang banging on a much bigger scale. Good riddance, who needs you.

  2. it’s hard to find something for two reasons; A) Toronto is a hell of a lot bigger than Halifax, that means more people are competing for the good places, and B) Because of this competition, landlords don’t need to list available housing months in advance, people will scoop it up a couple days before the move it date. Have you even tried going past the online housing registries to do some actual work to find a place? Call the damn landlord and ask if there’s anything available in a month’s time, who knows, it might be a bust, but then again, maybe you’ll actually have a place to live when Toronto rapes you in the ass.

  3. It’s not that they don’t rent out for that time period it’s that they have waiting lists and as a tenent gives the required 2 months notice they contact the prople waiting. Just go onto one of those lists and stay here until one opens up. I’m sure you can get an apt in a shitty area pretty easy, if you are willing to. Can you say Jane and Finch.

  4. Good luck on your apartment hunt, try and get someone you know to check the places out for you first, a lot of internet ads are misleading. What I would reccomend if you don’t have an assload of stuff is to sublet from someone for 2 or three months, and use that time to apartment hunt while IN the town.G’luck
