  1. Bike lanes are the Baby Seal of the Four Wheels Bad Crowd, what would really encourage people to ride to work everyday are facilities like showers and safe storage for their rides when they get there.

  2. Hooray….$56 to fill my SUV. How high will she go? I predict we’re going to see $1.30+ a litre this summer.

  3. The scary thing Sebastian, is the actual price of the gas is not the thing going up. It will be the additional taxes on it. I can see it coming, some foolish additional tax, maybe for carbon, increase of road, or giant screen plasma TVs or some other Orange crush type of thing.

  4. I agree Cranky, both great points. It’s not the roads that are the deterrent, it’s the ability to presentable for work after spending 20 or more min on a bike. Also, I used to bike to work anyway until my bike got stolen.

  5. I know truckers who use baby wipes to freshen up on the road before presenting themselves at a delivery point. Possibly a solution for sweaty cyclists who need to freshen before work? Or pack a facecloth and soap for a quick freshening in the washroom?

Cycling is a healthier form of transportation for you…for the planet too:)

  6. yes and the other thing that would help is if we could detach Nova Scotia around Amherst or so, and float it down the the latitude of, say, Bermuda.
Bicycles will NEVER replace motorizede vehicles for personal transport, NEVER.

What needs to happen is innovation on safe, uber-efficient powered vehicles – tiny motors, three-wheeled ‘cars’, daisy-chained commuter vehicles being pulled along together….THIS is the innovation we need, not more ridiculous talk of Haligonians pedalling their way down the BI-HI in fucking January….stop it already with the bicycle nonsense!

You’re NOT “saving the planet”, you are a sweaty placebo that takes attention away from REAL solutions….AND you’re in my way.

  7. Fuck the planet, I just hate sitting in a car for 45 minutes when a 25 minute bike ride gets me there.
