This is a shout out to the ignorant dolt who took it upon herself to stop traffic right beside a busy intersection with her body so that her friend could back out of their driveway; WHAT IS WRONG WITH YOU?! Do you know even understand how close you came to getting hit and causing several accidents?! You probably have no idea.

This bitch ran out into the street so that cars would have to stop. She then proceeded to smile and wave/signal to her friend that they could begin backing up out of the driveway. Cars had to slam on their brakes and stop in the middle of an intersection on a main road in Halifax during RUSH HOUR. The streets were crazy enough as it was with the various construction sites around the city causing back-ups everywhere, and people had to contend with this moronic spectacle! I hope you got to your ever-so-important destination in good time, you absolute piece of shit. —Waffle Maker

  1. LOL! Never seen that one!

Why merge onto a road when it is safe to do so when you can count on the “Haligonian charm” that they’ll stop for any pedestrian?

  2. Backing out of your driveway is illegal? That sounds a bit absurd! Says who?

Also, I’d believe I’d do the same thing she did if nobody was letting me out. So sorry she took 18 seconds away that you’ll never get back.

  3. Yup look it up.

18 seconds that could have easily gotten her killed. man vs car I think car would win. I am sure it wasn’t about the interruption as much as the shock and scare of almost hitting someone for being stupid

  4. Yeah they must not have noticed the adjacent intersection when they bought the house … My parents, when they were together and looking to buy a house, there were a couple they looked at on Caldwell road in Dartmouth and chose not to live there because they knew getting out of the driveway would be a pain.

  5. Actually I think it might be illegal to back out of a driveway… I know my mom had some issues on her street with people parking too close to her driveway so that she couldn’t back in and the police came and ticketed the nearby car and also mentioned that you’re not really “supposed” to back out of a driveway… but I dunno, it does seem weird to me too but stopping traffic because no one will let you in? CMON!

  6. It’s not illegal – but you’re not “supposed” to, is correct. I think what *IS* illegal is stopping traffic.

The car trying to get out of the driveway is supposed to stop and wait until there’s a break in traffic. MUST YIELD TO APPROACHING TRAFFIC.

Check out the driver handbook, chapter 2, page 65:

  7. From a practical standpoint, if I had been waiting to get into traffic and nobody bothered to let me in, I’d probably have done the same thing.

Back in the Late Pleistocene I had a summer job driving a 1 ton food delivery truck in a big city. Most of the deliveries were into back alleys which emptied onto busy downtown streets. Sometimes you had no choice but to back out into traffic. What a hassle!

When I see people in that situation I usually cut them some slack and wave them out. Been there, done that and I have the T-shirt.

  8. Here’s the section of the Motor Vehicle Act:

    Backing and turning around

120 (1) The driver of a vehicle shall not back the vehicle unless such movement can be made in safety.

    (2) The driver of a vehicle shall not turn the vehicle around so as to proceed in the opposite direction upon a curve or upon the approach to or near the crest of a grade or at any place upon a highway where the view of the vehicle is obstructed within a distance of 150 metres along the highway in either direction.

    (3) It shall be an offence for the driver of a vehicle within a business or residence district to turn the vehicle so as to proceed in the opposite direction unless such movement can be made in safety and without backing or otherwise interfering with other traffic.

    (4) It shall be an offence for the driver of any vehicle to fail to comply with the directions displayed on signs prohibiting right or left turns at intersections or prohibiting turning around in any block or specified area of the highway. R.S., c. 293, s. 120.

Unless it is an emergency situation only a peace officer or Traffic Control Person, or Crossing Guard doing their duty is allowed to stop/direct traffic:

    Traffic control person

107B (1) In this Section, “traffic control person” means a person qualified and accredited by the Provincial Traffic Authority to direct the movement of traffic along or across a highway within an area designated as a temporary work area for the purpose of construction, maintenance or utility operation.

    (2) A traffic control person may direct traffic only at a temporary work area in a manner consistent with standards contained in the latest edition of the Nova Scotia Temporary Workplace Traffic Control Manual.

    (3) It is an offence for the driver of a vehicle to fail to obey a traffic control person directing traffic within a temporary work area. 2001, c. 44, s. 3.

  9. Yes. I posted the links to the Driver’s Handbook and then the Motor vehicle act. I read them. I don’t see it.

I wonder if we would we be having this discussion if it had been a guy.

  10. Read again hardduke. Like most people here have already reiterated, it’s illegal to stop traffic while backing out of a driveway. If it’s clear to do so, then it’s perfectly legal

  11. if i lived on robie or oxford and drove a kar, it would be prudent to bakk in to the driveway

  12. Girl? Was probably sebastian in heels and wearing extensions in his hair or on his bald head.

  13. “Why did the dumb girl cross the road?”

-Because the sign read “Bear Left” so she figured it was probably safe.

    i’m so very lonely.

  14. Afternoon Painey. How goes the war? Speaking of hella kule, I just stood in a line for coffee with a lad who was getting the cover art from the Penguin paperback edition of “A Clockwork Orange” tattooed on his bicep. Looked pretty good, too.

  15. Duck Toller? Love those guys. Me Dad’s favorite breed. They had to put down their 20 year old kitteh-tard Figgy Newton last friday. *sob* She had a great life and was just a lovely wee beastie. They essentially stole her (for lack of a better word) from neglectful neighbors. They kept her in a shed and had four little ginger bastards all under 6 years old. When she started visiting Mom & Dad they began allowing her in the house. She just kind of stayed. Guess you could say she voted with her feet (and tummy)

  16. your parental units sound grey’t. i used to bring dogs home when i was little, ’cause they looked lonesome and lost. turns out they weren’t and my mom would take them back to the neighbours

  17. Ha ha – I swear the local pet community have spread the word about them. There have been any number of neighborhood dogs that come to visit because they know they’ll get a couple of milk bones or maybe even some leftover meatloaf. One of the neighbors they had over on xmas eve brought his German Shepherd. The dog stayed the night. When the parents went to bed he was stretched out in front of the wood stove; when Mom got up to put the coffee on he was lounging on the leather sofa. They had a large orange stray cat named Ginger Vitus who showed up one winter and their current tard is a scraggly little beast who arrived 2 years ago with a crooked back leg and chewed off tail. The back yard is full of birds, jays, cardinals, grosbeeks. Even the odd Red-Tailed Hawk comes to perch in their big maple trees. Nice place.

  18. i swear it’s some kinda pheromones that makes me an animal magnet. you should go to that polish festival on sunday, perogies laaaarrrrggghhh^^

  19. Should have just plowed her down……you’d be doing humanity a favor by preventing her from breeding.
