This morning on the way to work I have seen so may people using their cellphones while driving.

You would have thought by now that people would know its illegal.

You would have thought by now that people would know its dangerous.

And you would have thought by now that the police would be enforcing the law.

And it’s not just car drivers.

Truck drivers, please remember that you have a lethal weapon in your hands (or rather, just one hand, as you come swerving around a corner while holding a conversation).

And a message to Metro Transit… perhaps it’s about time some of your drivers learnt that they are responsible for the safety of their passengers. That means don’t use a cellphones, and don’t use an ipod (yes, i’ve really seen it) while driving a bus.

Police, please start enforcing the law.

So scared of cellphones

  1. The police are enforcing the law, there’s just a bunch of douchebags who don’t give a shit. Last week the mounties were pulling over wads of people on Portland street for seat belts and phones.

  2. Transit drivers listening to iPods? I’d say probably and the ones you’re seeing are doing a horrible job of hiding it. I’ve also seen buses getting pulled over, though I’m not sure what it was for at the time. I can see the day police will go after that, it’s easier to spot what a transit driver is up to than a car driver.

  3. Yeah, I find the cell phone argument the same as changing a CD while talking to someone, or changing a radio station, or adjusting the thermostat. All those are distrations that take the focus from the road. So ranting over a douchebag policy you heard in the radio is no different from talking to your snuggle whumpus on a phone. Likewise, the hands free FURTHER takes away your attention because now you have someone DIRECTLY chattering in your ear and as a result your focus WILL be taken towards the direction of the pointed sound. Don’t let it be an upsetting conversation…
