Seriously, who at Dairy Queen thought their recent television commercial was a good idea? Having a little girl act like a slut, like “shooting fish in a barrel,” to get a little boy to buy her ice cream is disgusting. Girls today need to see role models who earn what they get, not whore themselves out for it. I have written a letter to DQ complaining, and I will not be spending any of the money I EARN at DQ until they take that commercial off the air.

Wow some people really need a life…..get one please!
I agree. That commericial is offensive. Way to reinforce negative stereotypes. Of course, there are stereotypes everywhere in advertising, but a line is crossed when it targets children.
She’s got a great future as a ten dollar hooker.
i guess this is just me, but i really dont have a problem with that commercial. I didnt see anything really slutty, and well, if a guy is stupid enough to give a chick shit cause she looks cute, she should take it. Sometimes in life we blame the hot chick or the slut for getting what she wants because of how she dresses and shit like that, but what we really need to do, is teach guys that there is no need to do this shit, to get some ass. The commercial to me shows that the people that wrote this, say that men will part with shit for a cute girl, regardless of the age. If this was two kids playing, and the boy offered to share his trucks with the girl, and did it on his own, with no adults pumping it, do you think it is just to play? Or have we all not seen the little 6 year olds that call themselves bf/gf? Why is that ok for the little cuties to have a little bf or gf at daycare, then freak out over a commercial like this?
actually proof of this being a problem, is the fact that the op is complaining… only about the girl. Here is what is funny about society, if someone gets paid big money, to do nothing but look attractive and be simple, then we have a problem with it. However, if someone gave us large chunks of money, for doing nothing, how many of us would say no?You see lots of times, people like the OP, will say “girls need roll models…….”, but what the fuck? If there was a way for anyone to get paid huge bucks (or enough to make them happy) for acting like Paris Hilton, why the fuck not? People can knock Paris Hilton all they want and can call her stupid and shit, but she has a $125,000 appearance fee for events and nightclubs. Forget her purfume, that horrible record and her tv show, people can say what they want about her, but really stop and look. She makes all this money, AND HAS NEVER DONE ANYTHING. Sure she has her parents money, but she doesnt need that. She is making half a million dollars a week, making over 150 appearances. There is no celebrity in the world that charges that much and make that much…. JUST FOR APPEARING. She obviously has no real talent, but is a marketing genius. Of course people will agree, but then how the fuck someone sitting in a house here in Halifax can say shit about someone that makes more in a week, than they do in a lifetime is beyond me. Women need to realize the power they have. Fighting it with stupid shit like “we need better role models” is pointless. Women need to realize that branching together is why guys dont get offended if we are called sluts, branching together is why we as men have as many strip clubs as we do and women get male strippers once a blue moon. The place is packed, so there is a market for it. But why isnt there more of these places for men to strip? Because a woman never takes the initiative to build and own one of these places to exploit the men. Look at all the strip clubs, hardly owned by women.
“Of course people will agree,”should “be people will disagree,””She is making half a million dollars a week, making over 150 appearances”should be “she is making half a million dollars a week while making over 150 appearances a year”
THANK YOU! I was scared I was the only respectable girl left! The fact that this is a CHILD being provocative for profit is what is so offensive. Say what you want about women working their good looks, that’s an equal opportunity advantage. Don’t show a snotty little girl demeaning herself and the other child as an “awww, kids say the darnest things” moment. And the mother does nothing! If that were my kid I’d throw the ice cream in the trash and give her a strict lesson on respect for one’s self and others. Using your sexuality to aquire goods from men is not “shooting fish in a barrel”, it’s prostitution.
if a guy is stupid enough to give a chick shit cause she looks cute, she should take it. HOMIE….WTF….this CHICK is a child and children should not be encouraged to take what they can get because of how they look….I know you said you’re a father….I hope you don’t have a daugther because if you’re teaching her the SHIT that is coming out of your mouth on this one then she is destined to use her looks and her body to USE MEN, and that’s what it is…..no sugar coating it….I have a 12 year old and we have talked about this commercial and she is repulsed by it…YUP REPULSED because I have taught her just cuz your cute doesn’t mean you should have things thrown at you…And don’t grill me on spelling or grammar this morning….I don’t give a shit….This commercial just re-enforces what I as a parent of a GORGEOUS 12 year old girl, have been trying to teach ISN’T right….And thankfully I’m a strong woman, raising a strong daughter to know this sort of thing isn’t RIGHT!!
you see, you women are seeing fault in the commercial with the girl and her actions. Her actions would be moot and pointless, IF THE BOY DIDNT REACT TO SHIT LIKE THIS. You people failed to miss my point entirely. Way to read. What kinda logic is that it is stupid to get shit just because you look good? As a not so attractive guy, if people want to give me shit just because i am a tall black man, im going to take it. It isnt me seeking out anything. It is no different than hitting the lottery. Just like i pointed out, the reason that shit like this is an issue and you teach your daughters what eever it you say, but if you stopped to actually read what the fuck i wrote, people like you wouldnt have to teach your daughters shit, if you nipped the problem in the bud. It takes two people in a give and take situation. The taker isnt important if the giver doesnt give. The boy should be the focus of the commercial. Of course, typical women, they dont see the problem isnt the women, its that a man can even make the offer.
I didn’t say the girl was the problem…THE COMMERCIAL is the problem and the marketing strategy that DQ is using in this campaign and when I talked to my daughter about it, I CERTAINLY DID NOT place the blame on the CHILD….I placed the blame on DQ so way to read my post…..I wasn’t blaming the CHILD at all or women in general….it’s the stereotype that DQ is playing on about hot, cute, beautiful females using their looks to get things from men!!
Dear Lord, it’s just a commercial! A boy likes a girl and buys her an ice-cream…..it’s not like she’s wearing a mini skirt and bends over in front of him to get a free ice-cream! Prostitution = sex for money. These two kids aren’t even sitting in the same booth FFS. And Homie, the reason there aren’t any male strip clubs owned by women is because women aren’t stupid enough to keep a business like that running. How many women would get together for lunch and watch men take their clothes off? YUCK!!!!! Don’t put that thing anywhere near my food. Also, women wouldn’t shove their hard earned money into g-strings 6 nights a week. The reason the strip club is packed with women once a month to see the male strippers is because it’s a novelty…..stagettes, milestone birthday’s, etc.
Lori, you arent correct on this. Many cities that do have all male revues, are only open in the evening, and are open 3-4 days a week. Unlike the ones where women strip, men just go when ever. Kitchener has a male strip club, and trust me, there is women (that are just as stupid as the men) and were there each of the nights they were open. Either way, the point is this, that even when the men strip, the men still are the ones that own the bar and making the money. Still not that empowering to women.Again, you didnt answer my fuckin question from before, if the same boy, asked the same girl to play with her trucks, because he thought she was cute, (like apparently the boy did) what is the problem? Have you asked your lil kid if they have a bf/gf when they are in daycare? It is cute then, but what do you think happened at daycare for it to be that way? The boy had to do something to get her attention.again, i read what you wrote, the shit about DQ doing this, and you were agreeing that getting a girl to slut herself for ice cream is an issue, but did you see my point? Who gives a fuck what any girl says, it starts with the boy. It always starts with men in this situation.apparently you only see the actions of women as being deplorable as obvious by your first couple posts, do you see my point yet? I am not saying that you are blaming the little actress, but it was her rold that got you fired up, not the action of the boy.
Oh my god..it’s a fucking ice cream commercial for shit sakes! You wrote a letter to DQ?? What a waste of time. The only reaction i have to that ad is a craving for soft serve on a waffle cone. People should really stop being so dramatic. Calm down a little and try not to take things so damn seriously. It’s just icecream. It’s just a silly commercial that means absolutely nothing, aside from the fact that DQ is damn delicious.
DQ has a lot of bad commercials. The talking lips are bad enough, but they also had the one wih the bratty little girl tricking her parents into having a birthday party for her made up invisible friend so she could get an ice cream cake. That one was stupid on so many levels. You might say it’s just an ice cream commercial, but kids are very easily influenced, and commerical marketing is a very powerful tool. While it was succesfull in making you want ice cream, it is also going to be successful in making little girls and boys think this is acceptable behaviour. And Homie you do make a good point that we need to teach boys not to give girls things for being pretty, but we also need to teach girls not to expect things for being pretty. Parents are just as bad about giving things to cute kids as boys are. We place too much praise on beauty in our society, looks can get you anything you want, and everyone knows it.
I thought this commercial was terrible too, but I thought it was just me. I’m glad it wasn’t.
PAS, i thought about it. You know what? The more i thought about it, i am not so sure that part about the emphasis on beauty bit. Reality is that even in situations where you dont consider beauty to be an issue, it is. Take for example when you go into a clothing store, most of us hope that if we are served by a person of the opposite sex, they are attractive. We might not intend to cheat, or get to know that person or what not, but just for eye candy purposes. Most of them clothing stores know that. That is why you tend to see more attractive people selling clothes. So really, the whole “getting things because of beauty and looks” applies there too. Like i pointed out before, PAS, would you turn down money, just because you look like you do? You would be a fool to not take it. Now, if you were required to do something for that money, i see your point. However, how many times have you seen the cute girl at the bar just randomly get a drink? That is acceptable. However, for the most part, you dont see girls randomly sending guys drinks. Not saying it doesnt happen, but that is getting something for nothing, and really, what is wrong with that? If you read near the bottom, i cite Paris Hilton as an example. really, if that was my kid, how could i find fault that she is made a job, out of looking good. I am thinking that the emphasis on beauty is fine, we need as a society to teach this lesson, in a manner that is healthy. Starving yourself and shit for beauty and risk plastic surguery isnt the stuff that is cool. If you look at this….. parents are going to say to a daughter, you shouldnt rely on your looks and this and that….. but if the daughter goes to get a part time job at Le Chateau or the Dome, you cant think it is because they are great servers, we all know they are there as eye candy. The service is sorta secondary.
Homie, it looks like your whole post from 9:16 is directed at me…..and I’m hoping that all of the stuff after “Again, you didnt answer my fuckin question from before….” is not, because I only made one comment here and it was that I don’t have a problem with the commercial, but just an opinion on why women don’t tend to be the ones owning strip clubs. However, if I was going to open a strip club, it would be female strippers, as it is way easier to take money from horny, drunk men than women. You proved this when you said, in other cities ‘all male’ strip clubs are only open a few nights a week.
It’s not the beautiful people who are being screwed by our society’s focus on them, it’s everyone else. It’s the kids who are starving themselves, and dreaming of nose jobs, and doing whatever they can to make themselves one of the lucky beautiful ones. You also have to realise that people who are giving things to pretty girls aren’t actually expecting nothing in return. Geeks who do homework for cheerleaders may not be hoping for sex, but they’re after something, be it respect or just for pretty girls to talk to them. Boys aren’t stupid enough to buy things for girls simply because they’re pretty and they want to let them know. They do it because they’re hoping for something in return.Beauty is really part of the survival of the fittest. More attractive humans, like animals, are more likely to find a mate, and pass their genes on. This is fine if keeping the gene pool going is all that is important, but in today’s world we need a lot more than just hords of beautiful people. We need intelligent people, and people with skills and talent. If we encourage kids to just be pretty and you’ll get whatever you want, we’ll end up with a lot of pretty adults hoping to have life handed to them, which it was during childhood. Kids need to learn that they need skills and brains to get what they want so that we can make the future better, not just more attractive.
Lori, that would be bad management, If you look at the ratio of oeverhead the clubs where women strip/men strip, you make FAR more money when the men are stripping. Take a look at Ralphs. That place is indicitive of the industry as a whole. They make great money there on weekends, but go there on any given afternoon and it looks like a staff meeting with the waitstaff, the cook and the dancers sitting at the bar. I play the VLTs there so i see this place daily. It costs the bar to be open. That bar doesnt make enough most afternoons in sales to cover staffing costs for the afternoon. Of course the real reason that they stay open is the rules of having the lucrative VLTs is that the establishments must be open at 11 to keep VLTS.Either way, just a survey of the clubs that women strip at, women arent in power there. Women should look at what they have, and use it as a strength, that is if you are going to complain about stuff like this DQ commercial. You look around, the facts are, your looks matter. They get you ahead in life in many situations. Your looks are no different, than having a good singing voice, or being strong, or anything like that.
Over time, women would get bored watching men strip…..men will always come to see naked women. This is probably why there are so few all male strip clubs. I don’t really know, but personnally I have no interest in male strippers. If you are so smart Homie, you should probably stop playing the VLT’s on a daily basis, as it is a NO WIN situation. Maybe, while your at Ralph’s in the middle of the day, and everyone is sitting around doing nothing, you could speak to the owner/manager about getting more strip time for men, who knows maybe they’d even hire you…..but you would have to stop playing those terrible machines……SAVE YOURSELF, STOP NOW!!!!!
I dunno, I was totally going for sex when I did the cheerleader’s homework.
Yeah well thats good to know Pete, but what the young readers out there really want to know, is did doing the cheerleader’s homework pay off ??? Did you get to lick her ice cream cone or what ???
LOL @ lori, thanks for being concerned about my finacial well being, but on the point of the OP, you see your response to the stripping thing about men wanting to see women more and what not…. that is part of the problem. I dont think you even see it. you want to talk about the negative stereotyping, and then you just did the same thing. To suggest that men want to see naked women more than is phoney, just like the old addage that men are more likely to cheat then men are. That has been proven to be false as the numbers are almost identical among the sexes for cheating. So much like the people that have been talking about the negative message the commercial sends out about the girl when in fact the boy was the bigger fault of the commercial. Its that as a society, many things are attributed to one sex, but not the other. This one, people blamed DQ because it makes the girl look like a slut. People jumped on that, but it was the boy that started the whole flirting. As a society, women are called sluts are looked down on and treated like shit by other women, and if a guy is a slut, other guys are indifferent to that guy. Of course there is exceptions, but lets be real.
where in any of my comments did I talk about negative stereotyping? Sex sells, that’s a fact. I think men buy into sex more than women, I don’t think this is a stereotype but I believe it has been proven that men think about sex more than women, in plenty of studies, therefore targeting men in advertising or businesses with sex related advertising would be more profittable…But, I still say that this DQ commercial is being blown way out of proportion, as it is not promoting what some people here seem to think is protitution….it’s just portraying an innocent young crush! We’ve all had them and who’s to say it’s because of her looks? I can’t even remember what the little girl looks like….maybe he has a crush on her because she throws a wicked hard ball, or has the hardest slap shot on the hockey team…….advertising is often left for us to interpret the way we want, some people are just too sensitive and probably shouldn’t watch TV at all….Just put on chanel 39 at 9pm on a Friday (a time when children are still awake) and see how offended these people would be then!
lori me and you are agreeing on the commercial….. its just the stripclub thing we dont agree with…MUAHHHHHH
awwwe, was that a kiss homie? I think I’m blushing…..hey, why don’t you take a day off of the Vlt’s, I think I could find something better for you to do with your money…wink wink…..like buy me a waffle bowl sundae…….lol
Oh No……Does that make me look like an ice-cream whore?
Yes. I’m writing a letter to DQ right now!!
We shall not post in this site any more because lori gets a free ice cream from the homie.
I aggree with the OP, the first time I saw that commercial I was appalled. I am sorry if you cannot see the forest for the trees but that commercial reinforces poor behavior in BOTH boys and girls. It reinforces the belief that it’s ok to solicit and that it is ok to provide something after being solicited. Fine well and good for an adult to make those choices…quite different when it is a child making those choices or being ENCOURAGED to make that kind of realization or connection.NOT COOL DQ
so why is it cute to parents when lil timmy or lil sara jokes about having a gf/bf in grade one? How do you think the kids went about figuring it out that they are bf/gf? We see this all the time, and give the “awww that is so cute lil timmy has a gf”.
Homie…That’s appalling too, and parents should be blamed for that…not encourage it they should teach other values and maybe the importance of friendship at that age not the importance of sexuality
@ The Homie:I would say there is a level of naivity and innocence to what you have described whereas the DQ commercial is anything but innocent by portraying the girl with a casual indifference to the whole situation of flirtation for gain…it’s Fisher Price prostitution.
are you seriously suggesting that sexuality has anything to do with little timmy hanging out with lil jenny? Come the fuck on. This is gettting silly. When tiny shit like this even makes news, this is a whole politically correct world gone all fucked. Little kids are just being lil kids. They are not 6 year olds fucking. Part of the reason that kids are so fucked up, is because every little thing they do, might lead to them becoming big bad people. No matter what a kid does now, someone will have an issue for it.Ok jenn, at what age do you think this behaviour is ok? How do you come to such a concrete number? How many kids have turned out all bad because they had a gf in the sandbox? This is trivial shit and people are making a huge issue out of something that we see everyday. It is sad that people actually think a little kid is going to see then become a protitute or a hooker or even a slut. Come the fuck on. THis is getting border line ridiculous.
Homie…. You have the unique ability to make things seem trivial if you think they are getting out of hand…..There is no “set” age or number and I’m raising my kids like my parents raised me…I wasn’t allowed to “date” until I was in the 9th grade…and NO I didn’t have a bf to sit in the sandbox and play with….and I am raising my daughter the same way…she has FAR more important things to do then worry about boys at the age of 12…her clarinet lessons, school, youth group for church and she volunteers at the Seniors Center 1 day a week, just as my parents did with my our family…..she doesn’t have time to sit with little Timmy and “pretend” to be in love or bf/gf….and just because some of us think the commercial is offensive and out of hand…what gives you the right to say it’s getting out of hand?? Stop posting on the bitch if it bothers you THAT much!!
Fisher Price Prostitution… Get your head out of your ass Christopher… You (and a number of others) are reading way too much into this commercial. I hadn’t seen it as I very rarely watch TV, so I U-Tubed it a few minutes ago…The punch line is lame but the intent and effect of this commercial are totally harmless… And damn that sundae looks delish…
My have you got the situation backwards Floyd…harmless is it?Sure the social and ethical erosion of our youth is harmless and unimportant…whatever you say Floyd, let me know how it smells up there.
@ The Homie:Just because it is seen everyday and is commonplace does not make it ok…we see over-sexualization everyday but it is still not right and it is morally corrupting us all through desensitization. Your cavalier attitude towards the issue only proves that.
my attitude? If you didnt notice, i was the one that pointed out that the girl only reacts to the actions of the boy. The first few posters, only went on about the girls. I dont really see shit wrong with this commercial. It is only naive and stupid to think that sexually doesnt have its place in today’s society. It is also insane to suggest that it will go away anytime soon. So why make an issue out of EVERY LITTLE THING?Jenn, i am sorry that the world isnt raising its kids like you are yours and that we are not all acting like this is a big deal.Curious Jenn, stating your age. Did you have a big problem with 6 year old Rudy Huxtable having a lil boyfriend in Kenny? Clearly the Huxtables and the world didnt have an issue with it….. or are you going to say “wait, that is a tv show, that isnt real”……. well guess what, that was a commercial and seen by FAR less people, and it is just as not real.
AHAHAHAHAHHAAHHAH @ CHRIS….lil kids playing bf/gf is the social erosion of society. I bet kids playing tag is going to lead to kids assualting each other right? COME THE FUCK ON ….. he bought her ice cream
Homie-1, Christopher-0
I’m a girl, I seen this commercial and I agree with Homie, no i’m not a slut but its true if a guy wants to give me shit because I’m cute I’ll take it!
Is this discussion about gender stereotypes/imprinting or sexualization of youth?I’ll take column A for 200 Trebek.A few years ago they had some prostit-tots performing at the multi-cultural thing over in Dartmouth. The closest I’ve come to seeing something like that was watching Little Miss Sunshine and let me tell you, that whole casting 6-11 year olds in ‘adult’ roles with faked sexual awareness (which I don’t think the kids are even aware of but the adults making them do it think its ‘cute’) is just plain discusting. Its just creepy. Save that shit for the 14 year olds like Hannah Montanah.
*tiptoeing in*i heard there was free ice cream in here
wow, i can tell by the number of comments that this one’s a hot button…so im gonna skip over those…yeah i saw this commercial too, and i wasnt really offended, but my mind kinda did that double-take like ‘should i be offended?’ and ive been kinda unsure ever since. i just think its a really accurate representation of the way children are growing up to see the world, and it shouldnt be cute or funny, it’s just kinda sad. you see so many of these girls on ‘shot at love’ and ‘the bachelor’ who have no shame in saying ‘i want a man who can pay my bills the rest of my life, and take care of me’ and even though it’s just an innocent sundae, it has an undertone of ‘she’s too young to be openly acknowledging her ability to manipulate men’ five years ago, when the shock value ante wasnt as high, if Hilary Duff had played the girl role as a preteen, the tabloids would be shitting themselves about how ‘inappropriate’ it is. so again, i dont think the commercial itself offends me, i guess i just feel defeated about the next generation. most of my generation grew up too soon, and now these girls are growing up even sooner
hahahahhahahahahahah, qwerty, i just read that and i swear i’ve been laughing for about 3 straight minutes
Wow… There are a whole lot of long winded comments, that my “short attention spanned” mind, just cant handle… (“When I cant stop fidgeting, I just take me ritalin, I’m poppin and sailin man, TOOT TOOT”, LOL)So here’s my opinion…I fucking HATE that commercial… I was really pissed the first time I seen it… STUPID fucking marketing attempt.. Teaching lil girls to be future gold diggers, VERY VERY nice…In regards to DQ’s previous commercials.. I love the lips, especially when he says “Naaaaaiillledd it” lol.. makes me chuckle…
perhaps you should read the comments of everyone below. You missed the real problem in the commercial. The girl couldnt have been successful without the boy, why did you not comment on his actions. Read everyone’s point and tell me what you think cat lady
Sorry Floyd and Homie but I did not say “lil kids playing bf/gf is the social erosion of society.” So pull your childish points board down and start acting like adults or go sit at the kiddie table.I said that over-sexualization was morally eroding our society. Kids have played BFGF since the dawn of human society but in the past few generations corporate marketing has put more and more “sex spin” on their targeted marketing, introducing children to age-inappropriate sexual role-play. This role-play can reinforce poor conceptualization of the “sexual relationship”…ideas like sex for gain and sex for control, while both fairly common in “adult” relationships are not things children should be exposed to. I say “adult” because a lot of adults today also show the signs of this poor understanding of what is acceptable and morally sound in a sexual relationship, be it short term or long term, young or old.
The way you talk about sex….I don’t know how you ever manage to get laid………..*shaking head*
Another fine contribution Lori…regale us further with your insightful and stupendous observations!I get laid plenty with my fiance thank you very much, please don’t project your failings on me and deal with your issues internally.
MY failings? Did you miss the part where Homie bought me an ice-cream?But seriously, Chris, do you ever go back and read your comments? B4 you ask….I do, read some of my own comments and think ‘that was stupid’ or ‘I could’ve worder that differently’…….just wondering if you ever laugh at yourself when you go back and read stuff like “Fisher Price prostitution” or “corrupting us all through desensitization” or say “. …introducing children to age-inappropriate sexual role-play. This role-play can reinforce poor conceptualization…..” ?? I get that you are intelligent enough to use big words, but why do you have to be such a douche about EVERYTHING???
Lori-1 Christopher-0You know Christopher, the more you write here, the more you sound like a pompous pseudo-intellectual dipshit. And I am shocked to read that you and your “fiance” have engaged in pre-marital relations… She must have picked up those loose morals by wtaching too many dairy queen commercials… Nonetheless I’ll bet she would be very disappointed to know that you have been bragging on this site about how often you have gotten laid… And then I got to thinking maybe the reason you are so adamant that this is some kind of depravity is that maybe it gives you a little twitch when it comes on and your hoping the fiance won’t find out…You are a sick sick fuck Christopher. SICK…
I am going to boycott Wendys. Have you seen that commercial where the girl asks, “If burgers are meant to be frozen, shouldnt cows be born in Antarctica?” Isnt that promoting girls to act like idiots to get jobs? The girls isnt about 15 years old. What kinda message is this sending out to people? I am livid. This is the end of society. This kinda shit will keep bimbos around the world employed.
Homie, what the fuck?I dont even know what to say…
Homie :)The Fact that the lil guy bought her a ice cream (yes, delish!) wasnt my main concern.. Its that comment she makes at the end “Its like shootin fish in a barrell” ….. Thats what I didnt like… Its like shes saying, “If I give a little smile, and a wave, he’s gonna buy me whatever I want” Automatically makes me think of those skanky girls at the bar, who use their sexuality to get free drinks… or free whatever!6 or 26… I dont like that kind of attitude, that way of thinking, especially in kids… But thats just me I guess…
again that is sorta funny, that you are commenting on the girl that gets drinks for free because of how she looks, how about the bimbos that do nothing but reach into a bucket DIRECTLY infront of them, and make more than $300 in tips. You dont think she is getting paid strictly for looks?OH MY GOD….. did anyone see that Nissan commercial where they sing “yeah drive my car”, then they get in and the car starts bouncing and floating all over the streets. I am appauled, what kinda messsage does that say to the kids? DRIVE IRRESPONSIBLY?OH MY GOD, has any one seen the commercial where the woman takes a Chalupa in her purse into a nightclub and the girl says it its three because men are attracted to the smell of bacon. We should ban this commercial. It teaches women that food is the way to get a man. OUR SOCIETY IS GOING TO HELL BECAUSE OF COMMERCIALS LIKE THIS.Did you see that commercial with Sidney Crosby promoting the playoffs? What kinda message is that? This commercial should be banned as we shouldnt endorse to our kids to watch a guy that whines and cries to referees like a bitch if he gets touched. That isnt good sporsmanship. I am appauled. I am writing letter to the NHLsince we can complain about stupid shit like a girl gettting an ice cream,i figured i would take 3 commercials in a row and see what kinda negative message they are sending to the kids.
Like it or hate it; we all know the product being offered and the company that’s offering it. Sounds like a successful ad campaign.
I’m 100% with Catlady – everything she said is exactly how I feel about it. The first time I saw it, I just felt really unsettled, but wasn’t sure why. After a few times, i started making me angry.I have a better idea though – let’s all turn of our tv’s and go out and PLAAAYYY!!!
You really don’t think that things like kids promoting sexuality is changing the way our kids think and act? Are you aware that the average age kids lose their virginity is 13-15 these days? That was unheard of 10 years ago. Kids are growing up quicker and quicker because we are encouraging it. I dont think that kids in the sand box having gf/bfs are actually understanding what it means. They don’t start saying it until their parents come along and say, oh is he your bf? Then they’re just mimicing their parents, and if they get positive reinforcement from adults when they say it, they’ll keep saying it.”Little kids are just being lil kids” That is exactly what their NOT being Homie, this is little kids acting like irresponsible adults. It’s as bad as kids being forced in to beauty pagents at the age of 5. There are things you can do when you’re old enough to understand the dyamics of the situation, and tricking guys into buying you stuff/buying stuff for girls you want to sleep with are two of them.
13-15 is grade 9. That was quite common back in the 70s and 80s.Also, why is it so bad to see it here, and it makes you made, but it was the same thing they did on the cosby show with kenny and rudy? Why is that so different? Clearly you saw that the writers went with the angle even though the parents told rudy it wasnt nice to do that. It was like that for how many seasons? She used her being a girl to boss Kenny’s bitch ass around. Was there much ado about that? No, cause times have changed and we have to bitch about every fuckin thing out there. One thing about people saying times have changed…… we werent out there looking for sex at 13-15, doesnt mean it wasnt happening. At my 20 year high school reunion, i was shocked to hear who was doing who. Now in our adulthood, things like the age of sex, and stuff like that is stuff we are more aware of as parents. Facts and figures like that make a differance now. If you look, the teen parenting rate ratiowise was much higher in the late 80’s early 90’s. We are more conscious of this kinda stuff as an adult. Compare stuff teen girls had in the 80’s to now. Britney Spears = Madonna. At one point every girl in the 80’s was dressed like her in the Despreately Seeking Susan style she always had. She was just as raunchy, playboy, that book called Sex, the truth or dare flick. Debbie Gibson, Tiffany = Mandy Moore, Miley Cyrus.Poorly packed nonsense that is out there to appeal to the “just about to be teens”. We are so negative in the way things look, we stop to compare things. It is also human nature to compare those to our past as our awareness and things that matter alter in our adulthood. This commercial, is everyday life. Boys do stupid shit for girls in the sand box, they will peddle extra hard or show off and do a wheelie to impress lil suzy. What is bothering people is that someone packaged what always goes on, tossed on a soundtrack and some directing, and will make money off it.
I dont know who Kenny and Rudy are, I”m no where near my 20 year high school reunion.
Rudy = the youngest Huxtable on the Cosby Show. She was like 6 or something. She treated Kenny like a bitch in EVERY episode. Sometimes they said something, other times the parents giggled. Its not any different than this commercial
