What is going on with this city?! Every other day I hear about cats abandoned in apartment buildings, boxes of kittens ditched in the middle of nowhere, and now today, a cat beat to death by its owner?? What the FUCK. When did everyone become so heartless and cruel to helpless creatures? How do you live with yourself? Why are people so quick to put their own convenience over the life and well-being of a furry friend? You chose to bring this animal into your life (undoubtedly for your own selfish reasons), and it is YOUR responsibility to make sure it is safe. If you can no longer care for it, do the humane thing that anyone with a heart would do and take it to any one of the amazing shelters in this city. Don’t sign a lease into an apartment with a no-pets policy if you have a pet! Is that somehow difficult to understand? And listen up STUDENTS: in case you’re unaware, kittens do grow into cats, which can have a lifespan of 20 years or more. If you aren’t ready for that commitment, don’t get a cat! The amount of people that think it’s somehow okay to pack your shit and move out at the end of your semester and leave behind a LIVING THING is astounding. GET A HEART YOU EVIL FUCKS. —Crazy Cat Lady

  1. My former room mate took in some kittens, I think I’ve said this before on here. Someone abandoned them on the street. The shelters were all full and not accepting at the time, probably still aren’t.

They escaped, hopefully they’re still alive somewhere, poor lil buggers.

  2. Anyone ever hear about the Dockyard cats?

Someone started feeding all the strays down at the dockyard (there’s lots of them, unfortunately), and now they have an organization that raises money to feed them, provide shelter and I believe they neuter them as well.

They sell calendars ever year with pictures of the kittehs (they name them!). I bought one this year, but my damn mother stole it and took it to work with her. I’m picking up another, though, for this year — they sell them at my vet’s office.

Anyway, I didn’t write this bitch — I could hardly get through reading it, but I have to say — people who get a cat (kitten, adult cat) and then decide after a few months or years that they don’t want them anymore are scum. You get attached to those little buggers (and they get attached to you!), and anyone who doesn’t get at least somewhat attached to their kitteh is a cold hearted fuck.

Molly cries now when I won’t open my door or if she wakes up and I’m not right there with her, and cries at the door when I’m out…. I can’t even IMAGINE how heart broken she’d be if I abandoned her. I left her and Oscar for alone for three days once and she wouldn’t leave me alone when I got home.

  3. I was doing a lot of effing & blinding and Internet Tough Guy posturing (sans the internet part) on Monday after hearing about the double Y Chromosome fuckwit in Cole Hbr. who murdered his girlfriend’s cat. I’d sentence that Chipman’s marinated bag of suet to 6 months community service – de-mining Cambodia with a pineapple up his shit-canal.

  4. I train in martial arts. If i EVER, EVER saw someone beating an animal i’d knock their fucking teeth in.

I got my first cat when i was really quite young. Right after leaving home. And she is STILL here with me today. I couldn’t imagine life without her, or my other two girls.

Someone gave me a hedgehog last year for christmas. Stupid thing to do because hedgehogs require a ton of specialized care. But once an animal comes into my home, that home is forever. No questions asked.

A friend told me once that a cat that comes to live with me has won the lottery. I asked her why and she said “because they become a member of your family that you would never dream of giving up. You dote on them and give them special attention and care. You spoil them, talk to them, cuddle with them and love them to pieces.”

sad that to an animal.. that’s the equivalent of winning a lottery.. Sad that this is not status quo for our little friends who give us so much.

  5. And i will never EVER understand why people want cats when they’re babies and DON’T want the cat when it grows up. KITTENS ARE EVIL. They are like ninjas crossed with drunks that house a set of teeth sharp enough to tear through the side of an army tank. And they localize that ball of horrific energy entirely on your feet. Sometimes your face. And I’d suggest protecting your hands and genitals while you’re at it. Basically, kittens are like living leprosy. Anything that sticks out is at dire risk of probably falling off.

I have a kitten right now and i’m RIGHT in the middle of the kitten crazies. The other two cats hate her. My roommate hates her too. My hedgehog lives in constant terror.

Sure, they’re adorable and i love the hell out of kittens but if you have the patience for a kitten, why the hell do you not have the patience for a cat?? Kittens are the necessary baptism by fire you have to endure to wind up with the beautiful cat that they become once they grow out of their blind, destructive psychosis.

The cat is the gift that your patience for the kitten gives you.

    People are fucked.

  6. I love my cat way more than I love any human. Cats have such magical holds over people, it’s insane. Like, when someone I know uses me for food, drives, a place to crash, etc or if they physically hurt me or if they shit in my apartment or make a mess somewhere, I get pissed off and/or stop talking to them and/or dump them. But I would never get rid of my kitteh for doing those things and often those things he does makes me smile. Like every now and then Dexter (my kitteh) will attack me and it fucking hurts. Like he’ll latch onto me with his nails and teeth, then start kicking me with his back paws. It fucking hurts so bad but all I can do is laugh so hard I can barely move while I crawl toward the spray bottle (of water). I find it so hard to give a shit about humans but if it involves a kitty in any context, I’m care sooooo much. Screw humans.

  7. Kittens have the same moral compass as teenagers; if they weren’t so damned cute there’d be a bounty on them.
    >; ) I kid. I’d never shoot a kitten.

  8. Get ragamuffin kittens! They’re not bad at all! Molly and Oscar were such calm kittehs from the start. They played, but about as much as an adult kitteh. Now they just hang around and sleep. Unless there’s curling ribbon around. Then they ATTACK! 🙂

The BEST feeling in the world is when you’re sick in bed and your kitteh comes up and plops down beside you and paws your cheek as if to say “it’s otay, mommy! I make it all betteh!” (oscar-talk).

  9. “20 years or more” ??? Not in Halifax they don’t. Haven’t you seen all the bitches on here about cars flattening cats?

  10. Too bad a car wouldn’t flatten sebastard.

A car, or a street sweeper. I saw 1000 ways to die once, and a guy fell under one of those and his skin was ripped off and shit. All that was left were his intestines. Or in sebastard’s case, a ham-fisted-sized colon.

  11. “Don’t look it up.”

And you KNOW that’s what’s up.

    *gag* indeed.

THERE WERE DEGLOVED GENITALS, AND NOT THE BAREBACK VERSION THAT GETS SEB’S ASSHOLE WET, EITHER.

    NSFWNSFWNSFW.

    All stretched out, and junk.
You know him by the smile on his face and the tears in his eyes.

  13. well pussy lady, you could take themall home with you. and start your own shelter. but seriously, this pisses me off too much also. if you get a fucking animal, keep it, and take care of it. some fucking fools shouldn’t even have a fucking pet rock.

  14. Kittens and puppies are cute, but they’re nothing compared to human children. Let’s work on the poor suffering human kids, and worry less about animals, k?

  15. Don’t worry OP, there are a few good ones out there: Pierre the Cat Man builds homes for lost kitties, feeds them, treats them and find them good homes. I recommend checking out him and his crew to see some of the best cat love this city has to offer 🙂 Really heartwarming stories 🙂

  16. Lisababe, I’ll just repost from another bitch because I’m too lazy to type it all out again.

    “Animals aren’t People”
    What Persevere said.
There is no mutual exclusivity between love for other species and our fellow man, they’re just different. Love for your pet tends to be more parental love (in a manner of speaking) while helping somebody out is being a good citizen, something one can take pride in.

  17. The difference is, humans were created by God with souls. Animals have no souls. When we die we will be judged, and go to heaven or hell. Animals will just die and be gone forever into oblivion.

  18. “If you aren’t re-united with your pets in heaven, why the hell would anyone want to go there?” – Ivan’s Dad

    “L’enfer, c’est les autres” – Jean-Paul Sartre

  19. Lisa Babe…there very well may be a god.
    Unfortunately
You will never find him through any religious organization.
So until you figure that out…your shit out of luck.
ALso any god who doesn’t allow pets, doesn’t have to waste time judging me…I wouldn’t go anywhere with a god like that in the first place….
Where’s the DAMN DOWN BUTTON !

  20. I’m trying to find a Christopher Hitchens quote about how God must be either lazy, callous, and cruel or incompetent, but my Google Fu seems to be failing me. 🙁
