Well, it’s my fault really, for having faith in downtown Halifax, but I stupidly left my black Ibanez acoustic in my back seat and it was stolen, right be the Farmer’s Market Saturday afternoon.

I wonder if there is anyone who knows where stolen guitars might end up in Halifax? It’s not exactly super valuable, with some major cosmetic damage, but otherwise one hell of an old guitar. Well if anyone has any ideas, I’d appreciate it. I’m visiting from Saskatchewan and in town for one more week. Cheers —Mitchelltallman@hotmail.com

  1. Check Kijij. Or the pawn shop on Main Street in Dartmouth (hot spot).

Halifax needs to start a public awareness program informing tourists (and residents) to NEVER leave anything of value inside a vehicle for others to see.

OP, you didn’t mention anything about the thief breaking your car windows to gain entry…..did you not have them locked?

  2. o.p., after all, this is halisucks. and if you look away for a nano second, you shit will sprout wings or legs and be gone. remember this lesson well.

  3. There was a bunch of similar thefts in the summer because apparently a crack dealer was accepting guitars and then later selling them. I’ve stopped feeling sorry for people like this. They didn’t break into your house and rob you with a gun. You left it right out in the open for them. Cars have trunks for a reason.

  4. sodeypop, don’t be a dick.

People fuck up, and Op clearly stated he fucked up. But it’s not his fault, it’s the asshole who took it.

Yes we shouldn’t leave things to tempt fate, but we should have some room for a bit of error now and then and not have to suffer from it.

Sorry to hear that OP, really sucks. Pawn shops and kijiji is probably your best bet though. Maybe if you really want it back and happen to have a pic of it, post some flyer’s up. It’s a long shot, but you never know unless you try.

  5. “sodeypop, don’t be a dick.”

Whatever, I don’t leave my shit on the car seat. Leaving something behind a car window is just a step ahead of putting it on a park bench. If someone is desperate for money an easily breakable window will stop them?

  6. Sodeypop’s not being a dick; he’s just saying to use caution with your valuables. If something means so much to you, don’t leave it out in the open for people to steal. Or at least lock your vehicle up and close the windows.

  7. That sucks about your guitar. I’d be devastated if someone stole one of mine.. then again, that’s probably why I don’t leave them in plain sight and unattended in a car.

  8. anyone seen black rose around for the last couple days. hope she is not home sick, if she is, rosie, i’ll be your nursemaid til you get better.

  9. Haven’t heard from Hugo in a couple of days, either. Phone home kids. It’s not the same wi ‘oot ye.

  10. Wow that sucks OP, I hope you get your guitar back.

But “having faith” in any city is stupid. I’ve been to many cities across Canada and the states and I don’t have faith in any of them. Be city savvy, don’t trust strangers.
