What makes you think that it is at all appropriate to poke fun at an American icon who just passed away? Within 24 hours of his death, you and your scum bag friends were writing your “jokes” on Facebook for all to see. If you’re going to be that indecent, do it within the walls of your dirty little cave. This man was an important part of popular culture and doesn’t deserve the disrespectful blabber that you utter. You’re an immature little punk and I hate your fucking shit-eating grin. Next time I see you I’ll try my best not to spit in your ugly fucking face. Enjoy your worthless life, you fucking cunt! —Can’t Believe the Indecency

  1. With all due respect to Dick Clark I was actually more sadden by Levon Helm passing, however some people are just shit for brains.

  2. Levon was a classic, the Last Waltz was so fucking amazing – Dick Clark – meh. Still it’s a dick move to dis a dead guy – the only satisfaction is that these shitwinkles will never be as rich and respected as Clark was. More likely they’ll be living in a van down by the river.

  3. American Icon – I thought you were talking about George (stand your ground) Zimmerman?
Dick Clark not only made a fortune out of entertainment, he’s responsible for making the careers of many, which is pretty fucking great.
    Levon – can’t top TTFN’s remark.

  4. LOL Baz. Speaking of icons, have you read Ezra Levant’s book “The Enemy Within”? He skewers the myth of Canada’s most famous “child soldier” and the so-called abuse he has allegedly suffered while on vacation in Cuba.

  5. Okay, good. I can deal with Dick Clark getting trashed, but not Levon. The Last Waltz was my Dads all-time favorite soundtrack, and I love it just as much. Amazing talent.

    RIP Levon

  6. When I first read the post…I thought he was talking about Levon Helm.
What did Dick Clarke ever do …besides introduce talented acts etc…he was an MC.

Yeah, for sure he was an MC for the last 9000 years & that’s quite an accomplishment, especially when he went so long without appearing to age !
But IMO he doesn’t hold a candle to the entertainers who he introduced .

  7. american yes, icon, no. he was just a guy that did a job. not was made king or a god. like some of these so called sports heros think they are. they are/were just fucking people o.p., get the fuck over it. even if the fucking queen fibnally kicked the bucket, i would not shed one fucking tear.

  8. Oh please… How is this any different than badmouthing a talented athlete or musician? Just because this person was a big deal to some, doesn’t mean they were a big deal to all. Is it a classy thing to do? Probably not, but then again not everyone is classy.

  9. Obviously your Facebook buddies have no class OP, don’t let it get to you. Some people like to think they’re cool by being completely uncool, go figure.
Dick Clark was an entertainment icon because he produced a show, American Bandstand, that helped the careers of many a superstar in the music industry. Levon Helm certainly wasn’t any less worthy but Dick Clark was in the media mainstream for decades. Kind of like Farrah fawcett dying the same day as Michael Jackson.

  10. Dick Clark was a living joke the last number of years, “oh my god hes a robot” “He’s not dead yet?” etc.
Now he’s a dead joke, big deal. Fcuk pop culture.

  11. Levon Helm’s passing is much more sad. Very big pity that 3 of the Band members are now passed away. They are one of those bands that could never reunite without the originals.

  12. THE MENTALITY OF ROCK BAND FANS

All this yobbering about Dick Clark and Levon Helm (whoever he was) makes one wonder about the mentality of rock band fans. One sees pictures of them sitting in their seats in the stadium holding up their candles. Why are they doing that? What, if anything, is going on in their heads?

The question, of course, generalizes to fans of pop music generally. One can understand a mindless teenager being swept away since there’s not much going on in their heads either. In general, they lack even the minimal traces of reflection. But one assumes that on this site the majority are (more or less) rational adults. What makes them tick?

I would like to see a reasoned debate between the fans of Levon Helm (whoever he was) and any other pop icon. Take your pick. What reasons could one group possibly bring in favour of their man (sorry, person) as opposed to the other? Of course, there is always the possibility that reasons play no part in the mentality of pop music fans. Their “preferences” are groundless, simply based on irrational, inexplicable, and inarticulate whim.

    A pleasure as always.

    Cheerio!

Wow! Jesus, OB. Angry much? Sounds like you have some other, deep-seated, unresolved issues to deal with besides somebody making fun at good ol’ Dickie-boy.
    Calm down. Srsly. *whew*

  14. Considering you’re a classic nag op, i’m sure there’s shit you say on facebook that pisses people off.

If you don’t like it, grow up and ignore it and stop being such a self-entitled brat.

  15. This is hilarious, because I’m pretty sure I know who this is, probably about 90 percent sure about it actually, and if it’s the person I think it is they’re talking about me, seeing as said person whined about it on the comments then continued on to delete me from their facebook account. The status was “dick clark is dead. Finally there’s proof that he isn’t a robot”. Now when the first negative reply from the person I’m referring to was made, I explained that it was not meant as disrespect to his career or anything, the remark was made because it has been an ongoing joke for years and years about him being a robot. Now that should have ended it there, that should be enough explanation to sort out something like that, as the adults that we now are. It was a simple joke, not meant as disrespect. I keep wondering why this is so blown out of proportion, if you don’t agree with it we could just agree to disagree and you could click that little “hide status” option that facebook is so kind to include on their site, instead of being an annoying, bitchy, whiny little cunt, and posting it anonymously on the coast about spitting in my face etc… Either that or tell it to my face instead of being a sneaky little snake piece of shit. I think that’s enough said about the situation. I believe that in order to accept death one must take it lightly, and I would not have joked about it if it happened by some sort of terrible tragedy, like a drug overdose or car crash or something like that. He was 82 years old for christs sake, he was just waiting to pass away by now, death is inevitable and it happens, and i believe it is not a tragedy to pass away of old age when you’ve lived such a fruitful life. Congrats Dick, you’ve had a successful one, had to end at some point, so might as well celebrate it.

Anyway OP, congratulations for alienating me after I’ve stuck up for you so many times when people have said shit about you being a whiny bitch behind your back, by, whataya know, being a whiny little bitch. See you at the next get together I guess. Also if this isn’t who I think it is, then I’m sorry to you for being a prick, and sorry to the person I’ve assumed has done this for calling you out for no reason, but I mean, c’mon, it reads like you.
