I had long hair for years, and I seldom received feedback on my hair. I cut my hair short, and suddenly, I am the recipient of unsolicited comments about my hairstyle. I won’t complain about the compliments. It’s the critical innuendo and occasional blatant disapproval, especially in the professional setting, that infuriates me. My boss actually said I looked better before the cut. I happen to LIKE my hair. As a strong, confident woman, I am going to retaliate the next time someone implies that my hairstyle is unfeminine. Be warned Halifax.

I’ve always been super impressed by girls who will cut their hair all off. I think short hair on girls and long hair on guys is the best way to go! You can tell which girls really have beautiful faces when they cut their hair off. And I’m the complete opposite, I never do my hair, I haven’t touched a hair dryer in 10 years, but my hair gets long because I’m too lazy to get it cut off. But I can’t stand it long, so I just end up cutting it every 8 months and like 6 inches come off.

I have short hair, too, and love it. I have only heard the occasional remark about it, usually that men only like long hair. This occasionally comes from women with crappy long hair. Well, I can tell you that short hair can be just as feminine and sexy as long hair, and plenty of people have said so to me. Too many people hide behind their hair … and besides I save a lot of time having wash-and-go hair. Tell your boss to go to hell.

I am of the old school I guess. I prefer long hair on the women. Some women do look good with short hair, I’ll admit. But some look like they are trying to pull off the dyke look. I harp on some of my girl friends about this all the time. I haven’t been smacked, yet. I tell them the main reason they cut their hair is because they are too lazy to do it : ) They say it’s too hot in the summer or it’s time for a change. Whatever, it’s really up to the individual wearing the hair.
Short hair can be very sexy on a chick and looks very feminine. Totally depends on the doo whether it is too butch or not though, but there are lots of great short hairstyles. And it is rare enough that a lady will stand out with short hair. The most important thing if you want to go with short hair, guy or girl, is you gotta have a good shaped head for it. The shorter you go, the more important this is.
Some women look great with shorter styles, and like TTFN said, if you’re happy with how it looks, who cares what anyone else thinks. I love having long hair myself, but it does require extra attention. I’ll never be one of those ‘get up, shower and go’ type of gals. I’ve got my routine down to a science, but i’ll always need time with the blowdryer and straitening iron.You should tell your boss to stick to what he/she knows best..and i’m guessing that has little to do with hair.
I have been a slave tomy hair for YEARs and keep it very long but only becasue I love the way it looks and I have tried the short hair thing, STICK it to the next person who comments on your new do, as long as you love it, tohell with the nay sayers!!
You’re definitely in the right for sticking to your guns, OP. Your hair, your rules. And by the by, I think short hair is very attractive on a woman.
Short hair on women is fine with me, but I really have to draw the line at this “Brazilian” fad or even worse the “Beyond Brazilian”…That’s just plain wrong on so many levels.
All I hear is women raving about it. *shrug* Seems like torture to go through that though. Women are so brave when it comes to esthetics….and childbirth.
