Well Halifax, You are a pretty cool city. Lots of spaces to play, fun stuff to do blah blah. But WTF is up with the piss poor snow plowing? Four storms and SHIT streets. The only reason they are clear is because of the recent melting, but alas more snow and right back to snow covered, slippery, piss poor plowing. I’ve lived in larger cities and after a small storm the streets are perfect. Your plowing SUCKS Halifax! If I crash on slippery roads I am suing your ass! —DT

  1. And when did we have 4 storms? Did I miss something?

When did 10 cm of snow falling over a 12 hour period become a storm?

No salt? I can’t walk 5 steps on the sidewalk without getting a mouthful of salt dust and all one has to do is look down the street at the haze of a salt cloud being kicked up by the traffic.
Maybe you should move back to your larger cities?
    (just a suggestion)

  2. The salt on the fucking downtown sidewalks has num-num-num-chomped thru my two pairs of winter boots. (Shakes fist at sidewalk)

  3. You had sympathy building until the sue comment. Have fun being told you should have driven to suit the conditions, asswipe.

  4. I personally think there is too much salt on the roads, and not enough competent drivers. Why cant you people just slow down and drive for the conditions!?!

and what is up with people blaming the gov for everything? there was a crash that killed a boy, sad, but instead of blaming the driver of the truck, they blame the plow drivers!

you bitch about canada being a nanny state, but need them to protect you the second you leave your door. you are the same people who say the fuck the police, then call 911 when you get robbed.

    get real!

  5. oh god, I actually agree with the lowcoaster…

I’ve ruined a couple pairs of pants with all the salt out there as well.
it’s no wonder we’re so far through our snow budget this early in the season.

  6. what larger cities, op, and what areas of those cities got ‘perfect’ clearing? my company h/o is toronto, and some streets are second string for clearing. in vancouver, you just wait til it melts. calgary has the lowest plow/square mile ratio in canada (according to them, anyway) because they are albertan, and tough, and drive high pick em ups anyway. winnipeg’s pretty good, but main roads only. you just drive in the ruts on side streets til may.

now last year my road was cleared about 70 billion times an hour if shubie sam detected a trace of a snowflake. i would be standing on my verandah in t shirt and shorts waving my fist at the plow-guy scraping away at the asphalt. this year? meh! the friggin deer were having trouble stepping thru the drifts. and the road ends, after a long, steep hill, with a nice drop off to the sea. i went nowhere for a week.

  7. You’re most likely to see HRM snow removal trucks putting salt on the road when there is actually no snow or ice. Right around mid-July they’ll be out in full force. If there is active weather, the unions keep them paid without doing any work.

  8. Doesn’t Payless sell aerosol cans of pleather protector? Or did Jamal drink it all while watching “Tyler Perry’s House O’ Pootin'”
