have you tried going to shows?like maybe… the impaled nazerene/emeth show last month?or maybe the upcoming thrashfest? iunno, when i moved down here, it took me a month to get contacts withing the metal scene.keep in mind, that a lot of metalheads dont look like metalheads (no greasy long hair, leather jackets, and chains).. quite a lot of them look like average people. but then they go home, and record some of the most twisted death/grind stuff out there.a day doesnt go by, that i dont see some local band member out on the street..im not sure where you are looking, but apparently not in halifax.
Yea man, you definitely need to find yourself some telephone poles around town and stop to read the posters. Also, check out sites for Orchid’s Cruse, Fistfight, Uncooperative Death,and a whole bunch of others I’m blanking on right now…. for local talent!Also, Reflections has a lot of metal nights, so check their schedule. And pay attention to Gus’ Pub flyers. They usually have something metal going on too. The metalheads are out there man, you just have to look for them.
i dont think reflections does much metal nowadays.. havent seen a metal band there since fistfight in february (they do get occasional metal on rocking for dollars though)..gus’ is always the spot to check out for metal. also canadian metal and maritime metal messageboards (.com and .org i believe respectfully), will always bring you upto date on whats going on.and for some more name dropping: burning moon, cephalectomy, hellacaust, thy flesh consumed, defective perception, terratomb, chaos panic and disorder, vulgus, black moor, pagan hellfire… theres plenty more. 902 metal rules.
