Well, yesterday I was at the Hydrostone Market walking my deaf 12 year old border collie when here comes Mr. Crack and tries to kick my dog in the face. What’s up?! Get off my dog!!
“Get that dog on a fucking leash you dirty prick!” you screamed.
Yeah, well, I always take advice from people who try to kick my dog in the face first! But wait, we’re not done. When the whole block rolled up on you, you followed me home yelling and screaming like a psycho. I called 911 and they did nothing. 3 in the afternoon, blue jeans, red shirt.
This city sucks. —Tired of Police Arresting Drunk Kids
This article appears in Aug 4-10, 2011.

Phhht – Like the police are actually going to arrest the mayor >; )
Seriously though, OP. Are you leaving something out. I’ll assume you are a woman. Did you stress that YOU were being followed by a man acting erratically? Did he follow you to your door? Did he linger? What did 911 say? Did they actually dismiss you by saying “We’re not answering this call today”? Did the police simply not show up? Did you call back?
More info please.
And why wasn’t your dog on a leash?
You mean this didn’t happen in Dartmouth? 😉
Tommy? (jk)
No response from 911, seriously? Two years ago I called 911 to register an incident report on an assault, it was all I could do, to not have an ambulance sent and not to have charges laid.
What am I missing OB? (I’m not excusing the dickwads behaviour) Did you have any physical contact with this guy? If you assaulted him, then the cops gave you a break.
I’ll tel you something though, if some loudmouth asshole tried to kick Blue in the face, I’d probably get arested for kicking him in the face.
That’s okay OP, the crackhead probably got fined recently for having his pit bull off leash and was trying to take his frustrations out on your blind 12 y.o. dog.
Like Ivan though, I would like to know 911 had to say.
Agreed with Hugo. At grave risk of sounding like an I.T.G. attacking my pet is like attacking my wife. You’re going to need the police to show up, for your own protection.
No excusing the actions of buddy but who takes their deaf dog out for a walk and not put them on a leash.
be a resaponsible pet owner…buy a leash for the saftey of your beloved 12 year old dog
If they were at the Hydrostone they were probably a hipster, so I doubt they’ll succumb to getting a leash.
The dude could have at least yelled at your dog using sign language. Jeesh. Now go get a freaking leash.
That was actually kind of funny, sebastard.
ussually when someone tries to kick a dog in the face, it is because the dog approaches them unleashed and aggressively.
If the dog wasn’t bothering anyone and he/she was being obedient, I don’t see why not being on a leash is such a big deal.
I took care of a doggie named Bruce in Toronto in June a few times and he def required a leash because he was one nosey/excited mofo and I was scared he’d jump out in the road… plus, when he saw other dogs across the street he’d be all “OMG WAT’S DAT?”. He’s the most loving dog I’ve ever met!
He also gets beaten up by a dog half his size named Stella.
Poor Bruce. 🙁
I love that guy!
Pleeeeaaaaase don’t tell me this is a segue to yet another fucking Brindi is innocent yapfest?
pk, the dog laws are for all dogs, if we allow exceptions, stupid owners would be our biggest problem. All responsible owners should realize this and lead by example.
I know, I know, GV…. But there some good doggies out there, especially older ones that wouldn’t pose a problem. And if they’re not, I wouldn’t bother yelling at their owners if the dog is off leash, especially in the manner OP describes.
That being said, I wouldn’t even take my cat outside without a leash (and I’m not ashamed to admit that, either!). You never know when they might run out in traffic. They *are* animals, after all. No matter HOW trained they might be.
“ussually when someone tries to kick a dog in the face, it is because the dog approaches them unleashed and aggressively”
Who tries to kick a dog in the face?
Besides it was Mr. Crack that approached the dog unleashed and aggressively. I’m being facetious GV, you’re points are valid. However, something is up in this story. Who in their right mind would up to somebody and, their dog leashed or not, try and kick the pooch? This guy was out of it and posed a danger to people if he pulls stunts like that without warning. The leash bylaw is secondary here.
I’d still like to know the 911 people said.
I think it is more reasonable to assume that the dog was unruly. Which kind of dog is more likely to get kicked? one that is behaving or one that isn’t?
“Besides it was Mr. Crack that approached the dog unleashed and aggressively”
OMG!!! you are ok with the dog being unleashed and aggressive, but you aren’t ok with Mr. Crack being unleashed and aggressive. I find that highly hypocritical 🙂
a lot of people suggest that there is more to this story than you’re telling. And maybe they’re right. But some years ago, my dog was kicked in the face ON OUR OWN PROPERTY. Granted we did not live in the hydrostone. Granted i wasn’t walking my dog offleash or offproperty. But I am willing to consider this story happened exactly as you tell it only because i know from firsthand experience that there ARE assholes out there who will kick a dog in the face for no apparent reason.
Also.. i know a thing or two about fear of angry animals. If he were afraid of the dog, he would NEVER have followed the two of you home.
Sounds like the hydrostone is not the neighbourhood it used to be..
You didn’t quite read all the post GV, I was being facetious when I said that. Read the line right after that quote.
However, even if the dog was unruly, I would not try to kick it, good way to get a ripped tendon. If the owner is there hopefully he can rein him in. No, I think Mr. Crack was looking for trouble.
So, Ivan, somone attacking your pet is like attacking your wife? Are you serious??? Lucky woman!!!
z – you don’t know many animal owners do you?
As I stated in another thread….if it came down to a choice between my dog and, lets say…you. You’d be on your own.
Hurt my dog, I’m going to climb onto your head and dance for half a hour.
nice dragonfly hugo, i have one on my arm http://www.tddi.org/tattoo/dragonfly/drago…
*not exactly as illustrated*
Thanks pg, got the shot yesterday as it was warmng up. Definately a big-un.
Now, it’s finish my coffee & off to the beach =) It’s a day for a partay, who’s comming?
don’t tease, you know i have to work plus we have a cat to bury rooooooooo
Sorry about your kitty pg 🙁
Burial at sea?
no, that’s only for me^^we will bury him next to his brother in our pet semetary/garden and plant another rose
Sincere condolences on the loss of your beloved kitty sis:(
I too think Mr. Crack was looking to cause shit. I mean really, who walks up to a dog and tries to kick it? Someone not in their right mind.
Yeah, OK poochie should have been on a leash. Fair enough. Regardless, that doesn’t give someone the right to try to kick a dog.
And like others have said: if it comes down to my dog or you, you bet my dog comes first. Mistreatment of my dog is mistreatment of a dear member of my family. I’m not entirely sure you’d want to be around when that shit in the fan.
thanks oceanchickpea, he just turned twelve. so we are catless but still have our beloved hound
Sorry for your loss, Painey. My boy went to the Cosmic Litterbox 2 years ago. I still can’t think about getting another.
He was a whole lotta awesome!
Miss you, don Ernesto del Gatto!
merci sweetie, we won’t be adding any new beasts to the zoo. let the hound have the rest of his retirement in peace
Yes, condolences paingirl. A loss of a furry member of the family is a big hole to fill, it takes time.
Ooops, missed the smiley face and the end GV, you were being facetious, I take it back.
thanks critter guy, it was a little easier with this guy. his brother coughed and fell off a chair and that was it…was a shock. this fur ball was sick for a while so i had more time to mourn. my new picture is of the two brudders, the furry one died a year ago mother’s day
Wynnie sends her condolences, Paingirl.
lol wasn’t me, just so you know. I don’t have a dog. He should have been on a leash but damn, he didn’t have to try to kick the dog, curse and call you a dirty prick. lol that’s just uncalled for. Sounds like crackhead behavior for sure.
So sebastian is a deaf 12-year-old?
I’m sorry about your loss painey. I knew he had been sick, so hard to lose a loved one. Sniff. I’ll give the d-man an extra cuddle tonight.
And don’t promise no more furr babies either, that’s a tough promise to keep. There always seems to be someone out there who needs some love. And you and the bear seem to have lots to give.
I gave Moscar extra cuddles last night, like you said to, PG!!!!!!! They send their condolences and say that they hope you’re feeling better soon. And I know Dukey, Patches, Lancelot, Felix, Fifi and Smokey are all looking out for your kitteh in that cosmic litterbox!
I agree with ralmn too! One day, when you’re ready, you may feel differently about more kittehs! I got a cat right after my Dukey died, but it was too soon, and he was always more interested in my dad (completely different cat with everyone else — cuddled with dad and everything. he just chomped and bit me!). So, after I moved here and Felix was with dad I waited for a bit and found Moscar! Abandoned 3 week old kittens! Their mother had died and one of my mom’s co workers took the kittens in. We went to visit to pick out a kitty and we saw oscar first and it was love at first sight, then molly waddled up to me, climbed up my pant leg and into my arms like a baby and looked at me with that “will you be my mommy?” look on her face! I couldn’t resist that! But it took about a year before I was really ready for more fur babies, and I know ANY kitteh would be lucky to have you and The Bear as parents!!! 🙂
After Hubert , we swore to wait a year before getting another kitteh. 5 weeks later I come back from Chapters to find a terrified, big eyed Countess hiding behind the turlet, so never say never.
This poor wee Moggie seems to need a home:

Border collies instinctively heard cattle(and children) and when you walk past them they sometimes nip(not bite) at your heals.
There’s more to this story than the OB admits. No one follows a dog and his master home unless they are good and mad. OB, what did your dog do? And what did you do? One of you must have really crossed the line.
Hay all! PG can’t post from home, so she asked me to thank you all for your well wishes.
She also said that she will be getting another kitteh in the future, but that the hound is old and needs to spend HIS final days in peace.
Also: poor hitler kitty 🙁 Not the kitteh’s fault 🙁
Here’s something to get everyone smilin’ today:

“There’s more to this story than the OB admits. No one follows a dog and his master home unless they are good and mad. OB, what did your dog do? And what did you do? One of you must have really crossed the line.”
Did you not see the “Mr. Crack” reference? The OP is implying the person was a crackhead, crackheads are NOT reasonable people. I’m sure he was mad, mad because he hasn’t had crack in a while.
“Mr Crack” is the OB’s personification.
IF IT IS OBVIOUS THAT OB is not telling us the full story, THEN we have NO reasonable grounds to believe his derogative desciption of the other adult in this story.

lol Tyrone! I miss Dave Chappelle.
