When is a Crosswalk Not a Crosswalk…
I am soooo pissed. Today I was walking along Grafton Street at lunch. I came to three crosswalks, put my arm out and NOT ONE OF THOSE COCKSUCKER CARS WOULD STOP! If I had had a coffee in my hand, I would have thrown it at one of those myopic pricks.

You hate idiot drivers…..well I hate idiot pedestrians who think they own the fucking road. So many losers who walk our streets enter a crosswalk without even fucking looking…but get all pissy when someone driving 50 kms./hr can’t stop on a fucking dime to let them pass. I think 90% of the time they’re just pissed because they’re walking, and not driving. Get your head out of your ass and pause before crossing…or you might become a hood ornament….
Yes, I hate idiot drivers. I hold my arm out AND try to make eye contact with the driver but they’re too busy suffering from fucking tunnel vision. They’d rather run me down than not get to where ever the fuck they’re going a second or two sooner. I work downtown, dimwit, I don’t need to drive so fuck off. I don’t own the fucking road – I JUST WANT TO CROSS IT SAFELY!!!
Another bad one is the crosswalk at Windsor and Charles street. I’ve had half a dozen cars coming from each direction- with more than enough room to stop- blow right by me. It’s obvious that I’m there, waiting to cross. Halifax drivers are just too impatient.
Too impaitent…..too funny. If anything Halifax has a reputation for the opposite.That’s life in the big city I guess.
Don’t forget Dartmouth. A guy was stranded at the crosswalk with a baby stroller for five minutes before anyone would stop for him. I love it when people pretend they cant see you. If you cant see someone with a large stroller at a cross walk then you need to purchase a pair of glasses.
What’s the rush, people???? Slow down and chill out, you bonehead drivers. You ain’t gonna get there any faster.
Hit someone in a crosswalk and you’ll never drive again. You’ll lose your shirt too. But I do agree that some people abuse their right of way or just don’t think and walk right out. IMHO that’s a death wish.

If I’m waiting to cross the street, at a crosswalk, where I have the right of way, and I see a driver coming who obviously sees me, and who obviously has time to stop, I make eye contact and STEP OUT ONTO THE ROAD. I maintain eye contact and stare the fucker down. Go ahead asshole. Hit me. I guarantee it’ll slow you down more than voluntarily stopping at the fucking crosswalk. Everybody stops. They don’t like it, but they stop.

I totally agree that some drivers are idiots who don’t respect pedestrians, but fuck, some pedestrians don’t even look before they walk out into traffic. there is a total lack of respect between drivers and pedestrians.
Do these crosswalks mentioned have flashing lights over them? Aren’t drivers fined a pretty good amount if they do go through a crosswalk without stopping for a pedestrian? Who is responsible for monitoring things like that?
The lady with the baby carriage down by SMU on Monday Night, the light was green and you ran out in front of a car, I hope that your child survives all your stupidity What the hell were you thinking? Why dress in black clothes if your going out a night. If that driver would have had you I am afraid I would have agreed withthe driver,, slow your pedestrian ass down or suffer the consequences and obey the rules. Fuck
I agree with chicken 100%. Stupid people who cross without looking are asking for it. Just because you have the right of way, doesn’t mean you have a secret invincibility bubble around you. If a driver fails to see you or loses control, you’re gonna get hurt. Maintain eye contact and look before you step out! For all you students at the Mount, get a clue. Just because the lights are flashing and you have the right of way, it doesn’t mean that you can’t be hit. Pay attention while crossing the streets at all times! And some of you idiot drivers, look ahead and see what’s going on.
Hey pedests and drivers, While we’re on the subject, how about the blatantly marked crosswalk (you know, with the universal stick man “crosswalk” sign hanging over it) that indirectly connects Vernon and Seymour, splaying itself across a dangerous area of Coburg. Yes, dangerous! Cars have to slow down and seriously stop pretending they don’t see people waiting as 2,4,6,8 of you speed through like it’s some kind of ramp to merge onto the highway. I’ve been the driver too, so don’t give me the “ignorant and bitter pedestrian” speech. Just be a little more patient and compassionate…I know, we are all busy with life, but life could end or become miserable rather swiftly after you ram into someone. A word to pedestrians, too: make it clear you are trying to cross. We need to be more responsible for our own actions as well.
