Went to the Feist concert last night. Great singer, great band, great show, totally shitty venue. who the hell booked her in that crappy, neck-craning space? was the cohn booked with one of our stellar (ha!) east coast acts (bruce guthro, i’m lookin at you). cripes. now i gotta pay for a cryopractor (that’s right i’m so sore, i’m gonna get frozen) to get the kinks outta my neck. and i can’t even come dancing.

the cunard center friggin’ sucks

  1. Too true! And what was up with all the people there who came to chat instead of listen? Why make a cellphone call in the middle of a concert (I guess to tell your friend where to find you after you’ve just shoved your way infront of me)? And when asked to quiet down, you call ME rude?

  2. I’ve never been to a show at the Cunard Centre but have heard similar complaints. I believe the major reason is that it’s possible to cram more people into Cunard Centre than the Cohn. More people = more $$$

  3. I think if they’re going to hold bigger shows like Feist in the Cunard center, they SERIOUSLY need to do something about the slant in the floor! That’s just uncomfortable for any poor sucker who gets stuck standing on it the whole time, and it could be kind of dangerous too. (I havne’t been there in a while so disregard this is they actually have fixed the slant since then, in which case, kudos!)

  4. I’m not sure that the problem is necessarily the Cunard Centre. It is not the most acoustically friendly place, but it is a great, original location with easy parking, unlike the Metro Centre. It`s the idiots! And, they`re at all the gen admission spots..Alderney Landing, Marquee, and on. Get some manners and shut yer yelling yap, at least lean over and talk into your pal`s ear! There’s no happy medium- if you are in the front half of the hall, you are hot and shoved around like crazy. In the back, you can’t hear shit from all of the yell-talking. Come on, folks! If you want to socialize and drink to background music, just stay home and put on a cd! Even after Feist pointed out the talking, they still kept going….selfish and lame. Halifax, represent!

  6. I didn’t mind the venue at all; the sound was great, and as was pointed out above, the sound was great too. Feist utilized the space well with her lantern show and making sure to walk around a bit. The only thing I didn’t care for was the huge line for coats at the end of the night. Having coat check right in front of the entrance, where folks who just wanted out were having trouble doing so, is a bit silly.Great show, though! 🙂
